| You're right Liam, it will take a while. That's why I said 5-10 years. I remember when I first started in mid 80s that players were taking 3-5 years to get some of the fundamental stuff down and that was because not many were doing it, at least not in the US. Now with everyone stick handling the new players get it within months, not years. It will be the same thing. Now once those skills are in the game as a fundamental, you will see change. Imagine a pass is made and intercepted, the defender can go many directions with the puck so a shoot and chase at the defender's stick may not work. Where now if the shot is blocked it generally comes down within a half-meter spot so you can charge that spot and have a great chance at coming away with the puck. If you shoot and charge and the defender just tips it over to his other side as he rolls, you are out of the play, and he has the puck with open pool. Look at the futbol guy that dribbles on his forehead as he runs through the crowd of defenders... how many have gone on to the field and tried that? Some will get it, some won't. Usually it's the older guys that won't and they end up out of the game at some point soon anyway. But the new guys will pick it up as "normal" from the beginning so they will work on it and work it into their fundamental skill set. Takes 10 years to be good at something I recall seeing in one of these threads. If you buy that and the new guys are watching these videos, then the timeframe is spot on, right?

| yeah i guess it's a numbers game... give it another 5 years, maybe the numbers of players trying to implement new skills might be a significant proportion of people playing? who knows. but i'm pretty sure of one thing.... to make those things work, you have to be REALLY really good at them. not just have a basic ability to execute the skill.... against an opposition that has an ability of say 7 in strong basic skills, you will need an ability of 9 with your less conventional skills to make them work, and almost certainly a matching level of basic skills as well. the number of newer skills with enough grunt to match an opposing basic skill strength for strength are very few, so you need to have an absolute mastery of whatever you are trying to execute to make it work in a hard game... which is probably why we see hardly any of these little things in high level games, as no-one has really reached that level yet. (and it's debatable that they will, while the game remains amateur, and theres only so much practice a player can do) ...point being, good basics are very hard to beat with anything other than corresponding good basics ...or not?

| Good Skill, but will it be able to be pulled off in a game... a NZ and or OZ Final... Keep up the change of skill and the new improvements...

| And because many of these skills involve twisting body parts in unnatural ways, or overextending parts. When hit in a game that usually means injury. This is also the reason that Benson has changed the way he plays over the years to be more conventional.
