Positive Name Change

In recognition that time is running short before we run off to Durban to play a sport for which we no longer know the name, I think it would make a lot of sense to work on getting the new name right now, before we get there, so that the decision will take three minutes instead of three hours and we will be happy with the result.

I know that officials have come up with Aquachallange as the sport name, but I see that more as an all-encompassing water-oriented leadership group which will be the mothership for our sport for which we will have a really cool and usefull name. So in that vein, please submit quality name options with decent supporting arguments for why that would work for this sport so that we can spread the word early about what is the favorite and people that will be voting can think about it while on their 10 or 30-hour flights to SA.

We didn't forget Liam, it was just pointed out that the decision will be made in SA. But as I think about it, it seems pretty set unless we do something about it beforehand....

So who's got what? It doesn't have to be an original as many names have been tossed about.

I'll start with Flickpuck. It is what we do. It doesn't conjure up images of anything dangerous the way "underwater" does for pools in the US. I know there is so much more to it than that, but this is simple. Much like futbol where you use your foot to move a ball, or better yet the kid game of kickball where you play it like baseball but with a ball that you can kick.

i'm already hesitant to tell most people the name of the sport - as it invokes some strange looks

i cringe at the thought of telling somebody i play 'strokepuck'

I thought that the name change was to avoid banning by CMAS of players participating on the "alternate" worlds. And to prevent sanctioning of federations that still participate in other sports through CMAS. From the recent threats by CMAS (via Antoine) to most federations it doesn't seem that they care what we call the new sport. Players and federations will still be banned and sanctioned.

So then, why the name change again? Why not keep underwater hockey since it doesn't seem to make a difference?
