| 1987 is just on 20 years. In those days a team was 10 with 8 in active (2 subs I think), and subbing was allowed only after a goal or at half time. And I think sticks were still push sort for the most part. I didn't start to ref until 1996, so I cannot tell you how many other rules were different. I have a WC video from 1992 (NZ) - hi lites with interviews and info. Has a little cartoon mermaid swimming thru live footage; words of info follow her swim thru: one swim thru line reads: 'there are no offsides in uw hockey.'

| The US is proposing a rule change to be in effect prior to Durban - to allow what has been called 'free subbing' between goals. Now then, by my own criteria, I will write it up and attempt to find every place in current rules that will be effected by this change. Other than between goals, the 6 in the water rule will not be changed in the US proposal.

| If you're saying he 'caught the puck' and CARRIED it on his stick, then it's illegal, and I don't think I'd encourage it. Having said that - if he 'tapped' the puck across his body (as a lot of the top players are good at doing), then there is no 'carrying' involved, and he can get the same direction change legally! |

| It was just because it was YOU Jols! :-) No offside - but I'd put money on the fact that either the ref screwed up, or they did you for some sort of obstruction!!! :-) |
