The Dutch competition leaders have indeed approved the full black and full white versions. My club's waterpolo teams have an orange band in the middle of their cap design and the club board prefers our team to have this orange color as depicted also. Clearly, the waterpolo caps are blue rather than black for the home team.

Personally, I disagree with orange being misleading for the head ref. The color really is distinctly different from red. Especially since the caps remain mostly black or white. Orange ear protection is possible but that more or less destroys the design does it not?
What do you think about following the cap design guidelines in waterpolo? There, it is allowed for teams to have even green caps. If, and only if, the entire team has this color and if this differs enough from the opposing team. Using such a color should, in my humble opinion, be allowed in UWH but then we have potential problems with sticks that also have to be the team's color.
