For the record: QLD don't like the catsuit design that VIC and NSW are using currently. We did however completely agree with your proposal of State colours (QLD's maroon and white is distinctive and we like it).

Also - at the AGM last year, the subject of vests was raised and each state delegate was supposed to go back to their state and get an answer to the question of "Should we remove vests and the 80% of the torso covered rule for all players" (which would mean playing in bathers the same as we do at a Worlds or SHC) - has anything been done about this?

I agree with Alex, why should our opinions be invalid simply because we're women. I've worn black and white vests, I've worn no vests and I've worn the catsuit design. My preference is no vests.

Alex, you're entitled to want to pay more for a catsuit but you're telling me I should jump at the opportunity to pay double what I would otherwise pay for a ridiculous set of bathers that I don't want to wear just because YOU think they make hockey look more professional (which I don't agree with btw). I think vests make us look stupid. Whose opinion is more valid? Neither of course and so feel free to wear your catsuit and feel good about it but don't force me to wear something I don't want to because you think it looks professional. And I still stand by my position that the majority of players in the mens comp support my view.

As far as I'm concerned, women players can wear whatever they want. The point is I'm not telling you what to wear so why are you telling me what to wear? (This is the point I was trying to make with regards to womens votes not counting... Please don't flame me for being a masogenist prick )

Plus another downside... it gives players something to grab (which does happen).

rugby players wear jerseys, jerseys which can be easily grabbed

why do they wear them? to make the sport look professional and presentable.

personally i don't like the old vests, but i do support the use of the triathlete style vests (2006 NSW ones)

Actually, Rugby players wear jerseys because Rugby has always been a winter sport and in winter, you guessed it, it gets cold... Looking professional and presentable had nothing to do with it until adidas started paying them to wear the tighter flasher vestments they wear these days that, yup, are harder to grab...

But anyway, I have no problems with triathlete style vests either - they'd probably add some much needed support to my sagging bustline.

How much to sponsor those vests?
This site would like to advertise on them at the Nationals & the Worlds.

Seriously - who can offer us some advertising space?

I am sure the Victorian team can.
The committee can discuss the price and get back to you.

Personally I am not a fan of the vests or the cat suits...
BUT there is a rule in place and unless the rule is changed in the appropriate manner (i.e. voted on by state delicates at the AGM) then it must be abided by. The problem with UWH in general is the inconsistency in which the rules are enforced.
Did I just open a can of worms...

Maybe the catsuit discussion should have its own thread - wouldn't want to interfere with Nicky's rants... :-) - but I just want to say that I think the concept is great and I have heard nobody say that they disapprove with the look, it's just the comfort of the particular design we had. The zipper on the back digs into the base of the neck and few other minor complaints. These are easily addressed - there are heaps of different design catsuits out there - just look at the waterpolo girls; there's don't have zippers!

Having said that, not everybody is going to be happy with the design, which ever one is used, but provided we take on board the constructive feedback given, we should be able to address most of those concerns and end up with a better design.

Vests on top of ladies bathers is just illogical!

When I was first investigating the catsuits I found quite a few designs that had no zippers, and actually covered more of the back, but unfortunately they weren't available in Australia.

It's been a rarity that I've been on a team where each player is happy with the cut of swimsuit. Unfortunately like so many things in life where there's a democracy, not everyone can be pleased.

Nicky, you need to understand that I'm not into forcing things upon people, I'm just all for giving things the opportunity to succeed. My opinion is that this matter hasn't yet had time to realise its full benefits ie. more money for the sport, better visuals, etc...

Zoe, is Queensland sending a women's team to this Nationals?
