the mouth guards I sell were originally designed as mouth guards for street hockey. The company has now incorporated the guard into the mask the players where, so they no longer manufacture the guards we use but make them for me on special order of 6000 minimum.

Carol,
Could you please outline the exact process for getting mouth guards approved so that everyone knows? That would be great.
Thanks,
Tan

Sorry, I was under the impression that these were originally chinguards for american football. I was misinformed, I apologise.

Why not cut all 5 and go "streamlined". Can't see how you could get disapproval for having the regulation external mouthguard customized to fit your snorkle since they all have to be customized.

I must agree they look something alike.
But our selfmade are especialy made for this purpose. and have already a hole in it for fitting around the snorkel. And in the last 5 to 6 years we use them now. they have proven for use that they are working good.

SO i like to now like some others has ask before me.
"what are the guidlines for the external mouthguard"
"how do you get them opproved"

Lets trown the stick in the henhouse.

The Tilburgie external mouth guard and the American mouth guard.

The American is made from plastic
The Tilburgie is made from plastic

The american (the plastic part) is 3 mm thick
The tilburgie is 4,5 mm thick

Both are attached to the snorkel with a ty-rip
Both follow the rond form off a face.

The wide below the nose(protected zone) from nose to sjin.kin???(underlip)
The american is 4,8 cm wide
The Tilburgie is 4,6 cm wide

So what makes a mouthguard good?
I did swimm and play with both. And both had some blows.
they both pretty good absorb those blows.

Hi,

Here is the requirement for mouthguard in France.
Original text :
"il s’agit d’un accessoire non blessant permettant de protéger l’ensemble de la bouche et lié au tuba. Vue de face, l’accessoire doit recouvrir entièrement les lèvres."

Translation :
"it is a not wounding accessory linked to the snorkel that is able protect the whole mouth. In front view, the accessory must entirely cover the lips."

We use Carol's mouthguards...
Cheers.

The way to get a different mouthguard in is to first use up the 6000 that Carol specially ordered. But before that is done have a replacement model ready so that there is no re-order.

As to the ref's first and foremost responsibility being safety. Then why not have only rubber fins that are very flexible so no one gets conked on the side of the head with a stiffie? Why not make players wear elbow braces so that when they reach under someone and get the body dropped they don't hyper-extend it? I think the safety first issue is meant to take care of actions that are dangerous to others or to help someone who is hurt by stopping the game.

What if I had no teeth? Would I still need a mouthguard? If yes, then it is a stupid rule or has stupidly applied safety as the reason behind it. I have heard the cost of dental repair as the main, and perhaps sole, reason for it. That should be personal to each individual. If they are willing to risk the costs of repair versus more comfort or more speed or whatever their reason for not wanting to wear one, then they should make that determination. Things that players do to hurt others is what should be controlled..

no more

another issue/person I will not answer/discuss. All sports I know have safety rules and equipment. We have 3: ears, hands and teeth/mouth. If you have questions, contact me privately. I am done with yet another tennis match. I have too much on my plate that needs doing. My email

Especialy Because i'm bussy with it in the netherlands.
And from 1 januari 2008 every player must have internal or external mouth/teeth protection in the netherlands.

But we want more then one option for external mouth guards.
