I know there were some great pics taken! Thanks to Tristan and co for putting on a great comp. We sure can learn from the kiwis on how to strike that balance between hosting a professional comp and cost minimisation. The comp was ran over 2 and a bit days (a few games on the Thurs night) with 17 teams in 3 categories (2 small courts ala Sydney and Perth nationals). I don't think I personally support the 4 games/day, but if that is what it takes to get 6-7 teams there, then it has to be considered. It was so refreshing to play against 6 different (!) womens teams. Never thought I'd be calling myself a Westie, but learnt to do it with pride! Congrats to Zoe and Jess and their teams for games well played. Hopefully we'll be able to do it again. Probably take me at least a year to recover. Currenlty walking with a hobble. Isn't UWH a great sport! Cheers

Can any body play next year? Belle, Underwater Hockey NZ does allow participation of teams from outside of NZ on a case by case basis due to pool constraints. If people ask early enough we generally can accommodate teams in the draws. The main tournaments that we generally can't take every team that wants to attend are NZ Interzone Champs (6 weeks prior to Internationals) NZ Schools Nationals (Late Aug) NZ Interclub Nationals (Late Sept) The tournments we generally can include overseas teams are:North Island Interclub Champs -Last weekend of May South Island Interclub Champs- First weekend of June Northern, Central and South Island Schools Qualifying Tournaments -2nd and 3rd weekend in June NZ U18 Interzone Champs -Second weekend in October. Easiest option if you would like to come across or down to play is to e-mail both chair@underwaterhockey.org.nz and competitions@underwaterhockey.org.nz and ask to come. Regards Tristan

Hi Lena It was great to see a 'Westie' Aussie team come over and play. Hopefully you can all come again next year as it boosts the level of play, adds to the competition and I know all the girls enjoyed playing against you!
