| update #1 Well i have forgotten all the scores already. Northern appears to be the dominant team in the Men's grade, having successful won all their games so far with good margins (even with missing out on their beauty sleep with an early start with a game at 6.30am this morning). Womens grade is battling it out, both the central A and Northern Womens team have won all their games so far they will be facing off tonight which will give a good indication to who will be first seed after the round robin. Aussie/NSW womens team had their first game today, didnt go in their favour but im sure we can blame jetlag and only 6 player for that result. i'll try and find someone else to post stuff to make this thread more interesting, maybe Liam or benson will give us a blow by blow account of one of their games. |

| yes a reliable source has confimed that to be correct. seedings after round robin: Womens Central A Northern Southern Mid Northern Far west (aussie team) Central B Mens Northern A Central A Mid South Southern Mid North/Northern B/central B (sorry not to sure here) semis are being played this morning and over lunch with the finals this evening. |

| Was Central B made up of road cones? 31... that's a sprint workout, not a game. I just wonder if in the sense of true sportsmanship there was a timeout called to eek out the one more they needed to go over the 1 per minute average.

| hi there, i'll elaborate slightly on coco's results. the comp ran through thursday to saturday. in the mens grade the northern A team went undefeated in the round robins, with central A winning comfortably over the other teams. the two main centers still have an advantage over the rest of the country in this grade. mid-south, northern B, mid-north and southern were all fairly tightly matched and had some very good competitive games. central B were the most inexperienced and youngest team present and i hope they took something from the comp, going down in each game by large (and possibly record) scores, as mentioned already in this thread. mid-south were the most improved team in the grade, with some new students moving to the area and crusty old players raising their heads making this a team to watch in the future. the 3rd-4th playoff was between mid-south and northern B, and the final between northern A and central A, won by northern 9-1 the southern team took out the masters grade over the other two teams (which were a little cobbled together in parts) ...in the womens grade central beat northern in the final, northern pushed hard in the semi-final by southern.

| Actually Liam, never. I think it is the most unsportsmanlike non-physical thing a team can do. I was against it when Aus went 19-0 at World's in '92, I think against Colombia, and they seemed upset they didn't get to 20. And more recently when my team was up 8-0 with a few minutes left in the game and we were offered a round of drinks for a 10-0 score. I'd love a free round of drinks but chose not to go for it. Makes more sense to just bury it in their defensive corner and let them work on getting the puck out of there. Generally, you know you will win with a shut-out if the score is 5-0 before halftime. So the additional 26 is just a slap in the face. And on the National level, it would be easy to work on something other than sprints that could also teach your fellow countrymen something about how to do things. Let them watch you go end around after end around or dump it in the corner or something that allows them to practice. And don't even try to bring up that going easy on them is a slap in the face. I've played on a team of rookies where I was on the other side and it took me a couple of goals scored to figure it out but I figured out who their designated scorer was. And focused my efforts to stop him. And because I could focus on one thing I was able to clear the puck to my rookies and they learned where I needed them for the outlets. I think we lost that game 6-0 or something but it could have been 15-0. I had 7 players that learned something in a game situation and will keep that with them. I thought what the other team did was excellent sportsmanship. Just being on your heels the whole time teaches nothing. Nobody gets anything out of it except some obnoxious bragging rights for those that think annihilating a weak opponent is a good thing.
