We actually did a move a bit like what Liam describes in SA in 99 in the juniors when we were getting flogged. The plan was to go and sub out on the oppositions bench then start yelling at them to get in the water then when they had seven in, jump back in and start yelling at the ref to get them kicked out for illegal subbing.

Didn't work.

Sounds like Tilburg plays the ball. Basically you keep the ball (the cluster-fuchia) rolling with backspin to go forward. Players come up and drop behind and then drop again. It's a good training drill for some high intensity stuff with an emphasis on back passing, misdirection, and support.

I'm gunna go out on a limb here and give away the USA secrets Sven -- that's how we ended up 9th...

Please do!
And dont forgett some drawings.
SO every body can understand.

It made me thinking on a tacticks were the dutchies did become 5the with before the NZ players in 2000.

Ok, maybe I didn't make it clear enough in the drawing: this one is advantage puck and there you have like 3 m space in front of the opposition. Just before the 1 touches the puck 2 and 3 move forward and at the moment the 1 touches it and is seen for the opposition to start they cross each other. Don't know how would this obstruct the opponent when they are not even close to the puck, maybe if opponent player is underwater Carl Lewis, and for me the obstruction is the moment when obstructing the opponents path to the puck, by pushing him away from it or keeping him distant from it. So if this is obstruction what would you call then a fight in front of the goal, where most of the time the path to the puck is prevented to the opposition?

and since 2000 just how well have the dutch fared against NZ, Sven?
hmmm let me see - and i was involved, so i feel like i can gloat.
a 4-4 draw in 2002, then a series of defeats in 2004 & 2006.

time for a new book of tactics, possibly.

sorry if this seems like a flame, but i'm feeling kinda like Hendo wading through a lot of the rubbish that gets posted. and i never thought i say that out loud.

and in case anyone is wondering - no, i'm not going to post a nz playbook on this forum any time soon - if we had one i'd consider it to be our [present] competitive advantage and i'll not give that away.

you want to beat NZ? out-think us or come up with inventive or practical new solutions for negating our playing style. it's what we have been working on all these years. for ourselves.
it took us a long time to figure out some very basic stuff. a good deal of that time was figuring out basic stuff about the way we [nz players] play the game. then we had to start considering what that meant for us in terms of playing style. then we had to consider what we thought other teams were/are trying to do.
so, to make a long story short, start by analysing yourselves and your own play first. understand yourselves before you start worrying about clever tactics to defeat every other team on the planet with a few devilishly cunning manouevres. from set plays. which i personally regard as just a device for restarting the normal mayhem that is uwh play.

want to discuss tactics and ideas about different parts of the game and different areas of the pool? come up and ask me poolside. nb: functions/presentation nights aren't a good place to ask. you're all uwh players, you understand why.
but be advised [warned?!] my opinions and theories do not always represent those of the players i coach and/or the style of play they employ. our tactics are arrived at in a reasonably democratic fashion.

gosh, this turned into a bit rant.
ignore or digest as you see fit.

Something is missing in all this. With all this 2000 info and Sven portraying himself as Mr. Dutch Everything he seems to be unaware that NED came in 2nd in 2006. It seems they have advanced beyond the Tilburg Commandments without informing him of their accomplishments. I'd suggest he take a look at the video but everytime someone mentions DVD he says VHS. Must be a time warp.

No No timewarp

The 2004 DVD is an DVD
The Frence cd is a sort off DVD(animation)
The movies we take in dutch toernaments and competition
were till last year al VHS
The movies from the world in Amersfoord are all an VHS
The south african/dutch introdution movie is on VHS
So most movies we have are on VHS.

Only now with the sponsert new camera systeem
we are going to take the movies on DVD.

And from the 2006 sheffield games. I do not have any movies.

But thanks for calling me mister dutch everything
I really like that.......
A nice thing to call the DUTCH UNDERWATERHOCKEY CONSULTANT.
I function that is not there for helping the top-rank players. but a fuction to help the sub-top and the lower classes with sharing all kinds off information about uwh/helping to set up new clubs/answer questions from non uwh players etc

And like AMC said
Quote:
my opinions and theories do not always represent those
My opinians does also not represent all dutch play. Like i told many times before.

people are actively sharing their views and opinions on tactics and discussing some in depth... what is your problem svenso?

you're lucky people are contributing this much... after all, why should i share my views with a smug DUTCH UWH CONSULTANT who has never had experience of international games but is happy to sit at his computer constantly reminding me that his countrys team was better than my team 7 years ago?

how does it make me FEEEL sven? not very good. not in a SHAAAAAARING frame of mind.

...it's just not polite of you sven. your mum should have taught you that bragging and gloating is rude. do i need to spell it out any more?

in any case the tactic you SHOULD be discussing with relation to that tournament for the dutch is the corner tactic, which was the reason the corner rule was introduced the following worlds.

Pull it back a notch please guys.
This forum is for all to learn, not for flaming, bragging, bullying, gloating or elitism.

Having said that, this area is becoming the most interesting ever.
Where else has there ever been a meeting of the World's best UWH minds debating and sharing to build the collective knowledge base?

Thank you to all for contributing - keep it up, but keep it nice.
