hello after 3 years of using my old fins i think it's time to buy me some new ones. Seems easy to get new ones but im kinda thinking about the kind of fin and size i should get. or i go for the underwaterhockey nemo fins stiffness 2 size 37-39 Underwater Hocey I've tried them on but they are a little bit small, my toe was sticking out and it annoyed/hurt me when i was swimming (maybe a sock can help but i didnt tried that) and the next size is 41-43 which is too big for me i guess, i have shoe size 40 (length of foot = 25cm) and i dont wanna buy the wrong ones Or i go for the rugby fins size 39-41 stiffness 2 Underwater Rugby Fins never tried them, they are only 5 cm smaller than the uwh ones and i think this size will fit me snuggly (i hope). they also strap around the heel Please give me some feedback for chosing the right fin, i would really appreciate it cheers Andy

Hi - I own a set of the nemos and used then for a while, and I previously pushed quatros without problems. I brought all 3 blades in each stiffness, and tried them all in the underwater hockey style fin. I don't think you should buy the rugby fin, they will be too slow. If you are strong, then medium are OK, but soft would be safer. Briers are probably a better fin for a back (but soooo expensive), the Briers are a faster kick than the nemos, and probably they are a little faster for most people. I only tried the Briers outside of a game though, and with the custom pocket. For a forward - Leaders are also a good option - but the footpocket kills some peoples feet - so try and borrow some before you pay for them, if you are thinking of them. Nemos are a very strong fin, so they last for ever, and can be used by a forward and a back, but they are probably not the best fin in my view. If you get the nemos - try getting the bigger ones and glue a rubber foot plate in to pad it out. Don't use running shoe inserts as they 'give' and absorb the power of your kick. All the best with it. Cheers John

Hi John, So you have used Quatros before switching to Nemo. Why did you decide so? Could you please describe the difference between them? I use my second pair of Quatros at the moment and I'm thinking about somethig new to improve my game. Best Regards, Zsolt

Nemos I have a previous (and lengthy) discussion of my impressions of the Nemo fins on this forum and I mainly used the Quattros prior to and currently in addition to the Nemo. I have the same problem of the toe sticking out of the foot pocket in front and getting all messed up at the end of 30 minutes of play. Adding a lycra sock helped with the toe. Even more of a help was just taping a small peice of 3mm neoprene to the toe to protect it, but the combination of tape and the foot pocket cut off circulation to the toe and it hurts after the same time period. But at least there's no blood. The foot pockets are still a bit too small for me (the next size up is way too big) and I may resort to heating up the foot pocket with a low powered heat gun to try to loosen them up a bit. I love the kick of the fin and just wish they fit my feet a little better. The UW rugby fins use the same foot pocket as the UW hockey fins, so that's no help. Stick with the hockey fins. I kick a soft and meduim in the Nemos and think that through a single game I'd go witht he mediums, but the softs are just fine for about anything else except maybe extended kick sets. Sparky

The guy who makes the Nemo fins, says that 90% of all orders are for the #2 stiffness. I have both Quattros and the Nemos. I find that the Nemos are much quicker with acceleration, but slower at top speed than the Quattros. Since the game is mostly lots of slow mixed with quick accelerations, the Nemos do better for me. I have to use fin keepers with the Quattros, but not with the Nemos, they have a snug pocket. I ordered 8 pairs for our team in Houston. The people who were in between sizes (ie size 40) did better with the smaller 37-39 size. It did require some time to thicken skin though, for them. good luck.

I finally got them size 37-39 stifness 1. They're nice and fast and they look strong. The only negative is the foot pocket which kills your feet (ankle and big toe) but after taping my big toe and softning the rear end of the foot pocket (which pokes my ankle open after a while) my feet are fine! I love the acceleration and you can turn fairly easy with them. in comparsion to the quatrros I go alot faster then before Andy
