Removable Playing Surface

Does anyone have a link to the company who supply what are in effect big jigsaw pieces which connect to make a playing surface? They are used in sports halls to make courts for various sports and I beleive they make similar ones for underwater/pool use.

Have you got a link?

Sport Court® - Backyard Game Courts and Indoor Sports Flooring

some of our american and canadian friends should be able to tell you who provided the uwh specific courts they have/had.

Duck is an unknown quantity at this point
We had those made, as did Canada, for World's 98 and 02 respectively. It was a different mixture than the ones they use for other things. Needed to be so it would sink. In getting there, the tiles are more brittle and eventually the tabs and loops break. Probably didn't help sitting out in the sun for 10 years either. We seem to be constantly in repairs (at least anytime we plan something high level). I wouldn't say don't get them, but budget it properly as they won't last 30 years. You can just go to Sport Court and they should be able to track down the right mixture so they can quote you. If that doesn't work we can probably dig up what you need.

Eh atapene, The "roman" dude was asking for underwater usage. Nothing like that is in your link... perhaps someone else has a link to such uw courts?

Thats actually my long time wish and idea, to make a reliable court for UWH, right by the beach. I have said this before, and thought about it a lot, but never went over this stage.

One day, we should get our heads together, and demand support, to get such a project going. Imagine what it could do to our sport, if we had a playing area in front of the sunny and sandy beach. Variable depth, fast court, everyone could see the game...

I imagine myself sipping drinks on the beach, under a nice palm shade, while you guys are wrestling for a puck... Hell no, I would join in just like that! Just about the only thing that can get me away from the shade and my drinks, is our game of uwh... but only for so long ...

yeah i guess its a specialist application as duck said.

on the beach would be amazing! the surface would need to be up on pegs or supports a few inches so the sand and grit can settle through the holes in the court and we dont get buildup.

Another thing we have recently looked at to replace the sport court is PVC sheets. Idea is that you could make them into 45-inch (1m+) squares so you can dismantle and put them on pallets to ship anywhere. You have less edges than most pools to catch or bobble the puck, you can mark them permanently, you can replace with ease should anything damage one, and with the right puck -- they are fast.
