| Yeah, that's right Duck. I've tried so many different types of fins over the past 12 months or so and all of the people in the mainly scuba oriented shops rave about how good this or that fin is, how powerful and efficient they and so on. As soon as you jump in the pool with a pair, normally within 50m you can tell what they will be like for hockey. Some that are efficient have no power, some that are powerful have no top end speed, and some that feel good snap after 5 games and so on! So the search continues! Maneuverability might be a problem with the ones in the photo!

| My brother and I got the Mares Avanti Excel and they proved no good for him. They were okay for me for a year or so until both mine and his broke in the same place at the same time (we replaced them and mine have broken again). Instead of the normal full rubber foot pocket, these ones have plastic and rubber on the foot pocket. So when you kick your foot is pushing up against the plastic and the seal with the rubber doesn't last from all the pressure. So overall, probably not a great hockey fin. Just thought I'd throw that in here incase anyone considers getting some... Last edited by zoee : 14-08-07 at 05:32 PM. |

| They use the Omer footpockets, and blades can be changed in and out at will (so if you break one you only have to replace the blade, not the whole fin). Not sure if they'd slot into other footpockets or not, maybe a bit of surreptitious testing? Price is around €160 plus postage and stuff - so not cheap, but the build quality looks good and the rest of the guys fins have some pretty good reviews on the net. And the entire Finnish rugby team was wearing his open heeled version when they won in Bari, so they won't be crap...

| What was the deciding factor between the specialfins and the Nemo?? You seemed positive on the Nemo, but are now going with the specialfins... so what went into the choice? Just curious
