| i think we see a trend forming here nat. ...i reckon that if all the sons are unaware of each other and born in different countries or even, knowing benny, on different planets, they could all count as firstborns? sorry getting off topic here. fins... we actually knocked into a guy in nelson who is making fibreglass fins and we had a bit of a talk with him, he's keen on doing some uwh versions, he's been exclusively doing dive fins up till now. so hopefully in a while we might have some leader-like fins to trial down here, and he was keen o take feedback too, maybe we'll be able to get some useful design input into them. |

| Regreasing the fins is a good idea Sophia. Sadly as Liam and Belle will be able to tell you I'm far too lazy to ever do gear maintenance. Then again if a miracle occurs and I find a mint pair of Alas I probably would. Thanks for the tip. Liam. Perhaps the firstborns are different species? Knowing benny... you'll never think the same again after meeting him. A stingray didn't kill Steve Irwin. One of Benny's science projects/sons did. |

| Re ala-maintenance, I think it may depend on the material that was used (the material changed over the years). My newest pair, about 5 years old are "fraying" badly on the inside edges and I have to regularly trim them. My old black alas (the hand-me-downs from Elwood from ca 1990) have not frayed at all and are still better than the newer ones! |

| Yeah, I've found the same thing. The older black and blue fins (15-20 years ago when they were $60 a pair) had more rubber than silicone in them and seemed to be a lot harder wearing. The then changed the compound and went to a grey fin which didn't last long compared to the older ones so they bought black ones back in. Unfortunately they just changed the colour and not the compound that they made them out of and these didn't last long either. They then came out with the grey "silicone/rubber" compound which is what a lot of people still have now. Another tip for making them last is not to leave them in your car. Alas and heat and not real good friends!
