| Re: Worst or most interesting injury Quote:
Anyone who would complain about the sport court bottom being used at Calgary Worlds thinking the tile below was passable would have to consider injuries like that. Over the course of the whole tournament there would have been dozens of those. As far as my worst injury... can't decide between two. I caught a puck to the mouth off an advantage puck cloud of blood in the water (no call, yes i'm still bitter) 7 stitches in the lip. If it wasn't for the mouth guard and a stout snorkel mouth piece I would have lost teeth. Other real bad one I was diving in hard on a defender who had the puck infront of their goal. I thought I could stuff him and score before he got the flick off... I was wrong. Didn't help it was a guy who has one of those flicks that averages 3 meters but never gets more than a foot off the bottom. Shattered my knuckle took 3 tries two differnt doctors and 3 inch long pins to put it back in place. I still get shy about trying to block his shots. |

| Smashed my bottom teeth out twice, first time was a big flick from Dave Mcfee second time was on the wrong end of a curl and ended up with the back end of Pat Wisharts stick sitting where I used to have teeth.

| Six stitches in the right forearm from the practice court in Durban right before SHC 99. The curtain rail thing on the bottom they had as an anchor for the wall turned out to be a bit sharp when you didn't have the wall installed in it. Had to play the tournament with a soccer shin guard on my arm. |

| I remember that tournament. Miezies broke my thumb in three places in the first game and I had to play left handed for the rest of the tournament. Thanks Jase...

| Shattered Diff Okay so I haven't yet had any "seriously life threatening" injuries yet (touch wood) but there are memories of acute pain etched in my mind - like having the puck flicked into my boob, ouch!.. even more painful a nipple caught/scraped on a broken tile (luckily I had my swimmers on otherwise it would have been ugly)... and number one to break the pain threshold is having the puck flicked in the fa**y... yes it hurts boys!! Nina will agree as she suffered the same experience at the recent Trans Tasman tournament. The women's team (inspired by the NZ mens team) coined a term for this injury - having a "shattered diff". Although we think the kiwi boys were intending that remark to be referring to something else... hrmmm

| worst injury - broken neck & squished... Yeah in shorter words pretty much broke my neck. Had a collision and broke off the tip of C7 and didnt go to hospital for 3 days because I thought it was something else. Had a hot neck brace for the next 7 weeks. That fracture just floats round now. Also during the U18 southern hemisphere semi final in 2003 in hobart, I subbed out real fast onto my stomach - but kinda landed on my groin region and something got squished. I had a tinted mask so noone could see my eyes watering. I swear a squashed willy is more painful then a kick in the balls... |

| thanks for reminding me! a team-mate of mine got the puck flicked into the back of his nads. swelled up, he had to go to hospital to be DRAINED the next day. end of tourney for him and we came fourth. terrible tournament for luck. |

| Simon Douthett got me in the nads with his heel on a quick duck dive in Rotorua in 1995. I was incapacitated for some time. Left a sweat stain on the side of the pool. Damn you Jake! I'd almost forgotten the pain 12 years later. |
