Forgot one of my most unpleasant ones. After cleaning the pool in Breda they forgot to completely screw a plate back into the bottom and left a screw sticking out about half a centimeter. I turned right on top of it and the screw went into my leg and ripped a hole in it. Horrible feeling.

Pool sent me flowers though, so thats alright.

My worst injury is a puck shot to the head last Thursday. I was running a guy to the wall when he tried to flick it along the wall past me. I anticipated its destination and I flipped underneath my body to recover the puck behind me. Unfortunately, this was one of those guys with a freakishly large shot and I caught it point blank range because I turned my head right into the path of the puck.

It cost me 7 stitches and a pretty wicked Harry Potter-like scar, but I was in the pool on Sunday for practice, so I am taking some "tough-guy" credit.

Here is a couple pics of me on the side of the pool after it happened.

You might try using your stick next time. It works better and is less disruptive to the game.

Maybe not the best idea for defending, but shows a great commitment to the team. My kind of guy!

Weirdest accident I have seen so far, was a team-mate of mine. While trying to impress us with his skills, he took the puck in the "hook" (backside) of his stick and shot.... himself in the teeth!
Quit hilarious and his lip was slightly open. Not that bad, but still wonder how the hell he did it.

Wolverine

So Nev (not signed up here so am posting this on behalf of her), a brilliant forward from South West Ladies in England goes in for a tackle in front of goal against a hideous hairy backed abomination and takes a hell of a whack on the front on her little finger, ouch!

The bone in her hand fractures in a break that is common for a boxer, there is a horrible dent in her hand she goes to hospital to get it checked out. They try to reset it but to no avail, the next day she has an operation and pins are put in that stay there for 6 weeks. This is the X-ray of the day they removed the pins. She couldn’t play hockey for 2 months.

She has bought a new glove since then and goes in for tackles with her stick pointing towards the puck (swordfighter like).

ouch! Ive never broken my hand or had pins put in it... do the pins really stick out like that or is it an illusion of the xray?

Yes, the pins were sticking out of her hand for 6 weeks. She had a massive blue foam sling to keep it all inconspicuous. It took her half an our to peel an orange (note she did this on a bus and no one offered to help her, i think she enjoyed the social experiment).
