I get bored quickly, does anybody have some more suggested swim training sessions they'd care to share?

Where possible carry out swim sets with full kit. If your pool will not let you swim with your playing fins then ask if you can use swimmers training fins.
A suitable warm up should be carried out before
minimum warm up 200m
minimum warm down 100m
RI = Rest Interval
Set 1 (To be done minimum twice a week)
To be done at between 75% and 85% max. increase pace if rest times feel too short
5 x 100m 15 sec RI
10 x 50 m 15 sec RI
10 x 25m 10 sec RI (only one breath to be taken during 25m or first half under water)
10 x 50m 15 sec RI (1st 25m under water, 2nd 25m on surface)
Set 2 (To be done once a week)
To be done at max. pace
5 x 50m 1 min RI
5 x 100m 1 min RI
10 x 25m 30 sec RI (distance to be done under water)
Set 3 (Short set)
10 x 25m Half & Half - 1st half under at max. pace, 2nd half on surface 60% pace
10 x 25m Lengths under[water?] aim is to complete in 5 mins
10 x 50m 30 sec RI (1st 25m under water, 2nd 25m on surface - both at max pace)" |
