I'm quite sure the BMI will tell me I'm clinically Obese, it was well over 30 the last time I looked. VO2 max, I think we're doing the beep test at the next camp, should be able to get it off that. %fat? Hmm, I'll try and get a gym to check me for my christmas compilation. Or you're welcome to come pinch all my tubby areas yourself...

Anyway, watch out for mondays xmas eve update, where I'll be posting a lovely collage of my transformation from super tubby to mediocre tubby over the last few months...

Liam, I plan to be vomiting on a daily basis in a self-induced bulimic extravaganza to lose weight over the holiday period and take out the bet. Try and get ill or something so you drop a couple kilos...

whoops didnt i check in on monday?

well i've finished my loading phase of creatine... now i'm into the maintenance stage. i did notice a weight gain through fluid retention in the first couple of days, but havent noticed big results in the gym yet... i have made small gains in most exercises but nothing i wouldnt have expected anyway. APART from dips, where for some crazy reason i pretty much near doubled the weight i was using... not sure why.

eating, i've been ok lately, fewer interruptions so things have gone easier. dont worry benny, we are having our fat % taken at the next camp... (i wouldnt hold too much stock in the beep test showing accurate vo2 max results tho)

weighed in at 83kg at the start of this week.

Xmas Update

Well, December wasn't the best of training months, but the last week or two I managed to get my life half-sorted and get some good training in. As promised, here's the xmas collage of progress over the last 2.5 months. I'm down to 101kg, that's 6 to go Leelee, I'm closing in mate...

Merry Xmas boys and girls, hope everybody has a class holiday - I'll be spending mine on the beach...

just to put in a holiday update, 84.3kg today at the gym.

still on the creatine maintenance cycle... will be off it in a few days though and into the rest period.

of note, just about dropped a dumbell on my nads today doing incline bench, but am finally approaching the bodyweight kind of area that carl said i should be getting to with 37.5kg dumbells.... um carl, i am starting to have probs again getting the weights up for my first rep... i can pop them back into position off my knees no probs but then its a BIG job getting them up so i can begin doing reps down to right angle elbows... i'm ok once they're up. any tips? or is just grabbing someone to spot them up for me just the way to go?

also weights keep going up on the dips... thought i would can out on 35kg today but no, got to the end of the set still able to go down to the bottom and with not much in the way of shakes, so will have to go heavier again next week... its getting a bit ridiculous strapping the belt on, i have to take a knee to be able to clip the carabiner on, but it's all good.

on the negative side, powercleans while fun are annoying as i'm not able to consistently get the technique right every time and its frustrating. need more practice, however in the middle weight range it's not really a problem so i guess will just keep working at it.

food has suffered a bit just with respect to regular intervals cos im not at work and around the place, beach etc... but not too bad really. sunburn is more of a problem, i got destroyed at a drag racing meet the other day where i was out marshalling cars in the carpark and left my top button undone of my shirt without realising it... no sunscreen on my chest and i have a ridiculous v-neck sunburn mark which just happens to be RIGHT where the bar hits my chest when powercleaning... so yesterday the first heavy clean i did ripped a bit of my burnt skin off and man did it hurt

wow liam you sound like your ripping up gyms over there...

its so weird to see your post of sunburn,its freeeeezing over here.

sunburn sounds harsh,i find if you un button the bottom 4 buttons of your shirt and then tie it in a knot works great,a bit like a belly top,works wonders for me...jeje


then when you go to the gym you will look the part doing those jerk and cleans

oups,did i get carried away there.

sorry i cant seem to get the link to add comment, it goes to one of the problem sites... but it seems editing messages still works.

yeah bet is still on, still no prize sorted, currently either an excruciatingly embarrassing costume at the afterparty in durban or rights to name the others first-born, first or middle name, to be decided.

benson is currently in wellington and has been out of touch with the world for a while... benson if you read this your car is still doing well out back of my house, let me know when you get up and i might be able to get you from the airport.

i have been fluctuating between 83.5 and 84.5 for a couple of weeks and though i am keeping up the gym sessions and food i have also upped other stuff so this traditionally is a time when i have trouble keeping weight on. we'll see what happens.... coming off creatine made a big difference, i dropped about 1.5kg from that alone i think in water retention. i reckon i'll have one more course of creatine, i think cycle starts in a few days, will see if that makes a dent while i'm doing more of other kinds of training too.

have been a wee bit slack with eating around aussie nationals time as the tourney made it hard, i need to do a big shop and get that back on track again, freeze up some more dinners etc. carl mentioned changing things up to maybe 2 days a week, or power only in the gym... i'll need to sort out some kind of maintenance thing but quite happy to wait until carl finds some time later on, as he and belle are obviously busy with a baby!

weights have kind of stabilised since coming off creatine... slight drop at first, then back up to what i was doing while on it, then slower progress than before. still fun.

probably a final update on this....

the bet is still on, benson is ridiculously slack and has stopped posting his improvements but he's still dropping weight, he's been weighing in at 99-97 last couple of weeks now. i couldnt afford to be staying away from the aerobic stuff anymore, and my weight has dropped a bit to 82-83, and is hovering there. my best figure was 84.9.

i have chopped my gym stuff down a wee bit, have reduced sets on hypertrophy days but still want to keep on with the sessions cos i'm still getting good strength out of it, keeping the power stuff the same at the moment but lowering the weight very slightly and concentrating on repetition speed and technique. would like to drop the number of sets for some of the power stuff.... but would like carls advice on that.

also keen to have a crack at plyometric stuff, just a wee bit... sounds useful.
