probably time for a more detailed update...

weight this avo, 82.3kg

i've done 2 full weeks now with the extended power days.

eating, still going ok. i tend to find myself lapsing on the weekends sometimes cos i dont have my food at home sussed out as thoroughly as at work... need to fix that with more shopping. i can't confirm it yet but i'm going to start keeping a food diary again like i did at the start... (i stopped when i got sick of writing the same thing down every day! haha) ...because i definitely get the feeling that i get more results and feel better generally when i eat carbs at night as well as meat/veg etc, for instance after a hockey session when i'm trying to get a bit of carbs back in... i might try one week with no carbs at night and one with? it's noticeably harder to eat brekkie in the morning but i have a hunch that a lifetime of carbs in the stomach makes my body feel more comfortable or something... for whatever reason. thoughts carl?

in the gym, my weights on the squats are steadily going up now, both for the long breathing sets and the short power ones... (after i dropped heaps off to try to get better technique!)

weights on the cleans and clean/jerk have settled as i think i've found the weight range to be pushing and still getting used to the technique. pretty weird though i assumed i would be able to clean significantly more than i would clean/jerk, basically cos theres more in the jerk to burn energy, and i thought it would be harder to get the weight up the jerk part... but in reality, my weights have been very similar for both, only slightly heavier for the clean, so i kinda expect my technique for the clean to keep getting better and the weight to go up a bit more... i've got the jerk bit sussed and think i'm getting pretty close to my limit there at the mo so i expect improvements to be gradual from now on in that department.

since the bigger power sessions i have had tonnes more muscle ache, much more what i expected at the start, feel way better about what i'm doing cos i feel i'm actually putting enough stress on myself to make myself take notice... i would expect average gains to be up for the last couple of weeks but it's so hard to tell with fluid retention and all that.

cleans etc are such cool fun though! so much more fun doing deadlifts, cleans and that rather than smaller muscle exercises.

oh yeah... doing squats with a moderate sunburn on your shoulders is NOT in my top lists of 1000 fun things to do.

All sounds good. You know it's the food that is the weak link & it sounds like you've committed to address that.
Carbs at night? Well ok, try it for 2 weeks - no sugar though.
Are you getting your oil in?

We're adding again to your work load.
Add in barbell front squats to your breathing squat days.
Sets are 15,12 & 10.
These are technically difficult btw so take it slow.
After that add in Leg Presses same rep range & make it heavy.

To your upper body hypertrophy day we're adding Reverse Grip Bent over Rows. These too are technical - reps as above.

So i've got you at 2.7kg off winning. As discussed 1.5 - 2.0kg could be had with proper creatine supplementation.
Get the food nailed plus the new work load and it's all over.

You'all have fun with that now!

je je atapene...
why do all our hearts go out to benny and then when we get in the water to play against him he creams us ...

any photos atapene,do i sound terribly gay...
but i would like to see your progress.
you see,i bet you have been waiting for someone to ask that question, just not a guy.
im sure all the ladies would certainly be up for a sneak preview before seeing it for real in the worlds.

sorry clark for calling you duck in the last post.

ha, yeah. well hopefully he will show us what we've been missing when he gets home, which is soon!

um, pics.... to be honest i just dont think i'm gonna see much of a visible difference, the amount of weight we're talking about. i never looked much different whether i was 76kg or 81kg... certainly not like the changes bennys gunning for i think.

if you want to see where i'm starting from, i have a shot from when i was in turkey, about 73kg or maybe even less than that. sorry to any who dont like being plastered up on the net randomly but hey we all posed for this after all ...i am the one on the far left.

please excuse the speedo shot which benny saved us from but i feel the fact that i have wee legs is important

once i get to my target i could try to take a comparison photo and see if there's much difference i guess.

Of course you do, I think we all know that this whole training challenge was a transparent attempt to ensure that Benson goes into a worlds really fit for the first time in a few years, so that you don't have to do anything.

And... it is working. Bennie creamed me also last week unfortunately.

Benson was our guest at home last night.
We recorded a podcast whilst we could. Very interesting indeed.

If you listen closely you'll catch the 'plan' and my statement on who should or could win the "Training Challenge". Not telling though you have to listen to it.

I'll post the interview soon.

I can see where you could easily mistake the two of us... ha ha. Must be too much sugar or something.
