Bugger, I gained weight last week. To be fair I don't think it's fat, but I can't find a gym in England brave enough to threaten its patrons with fat testing equipment so I guess we'll never know...

Last week was a slow one though, felt pretty hammered by a consistent lack of sleep throughout the week. This week is off to a much better start.

you could try this one at home!

training update

wow, this thread is certainly getting long in the tooth.

end of last week i had yet another disruption, albeit a nice one, richie rowe got married! shot richie. did screw up things for a few days but i tried hard to eat like a pig... all good.

kinda annoying how the gym is often too full to have room to do powercleans etc outside the squat-rack thing... eg today, will have to go back to the gym tonight after soccer and do them when the place is (hopefully) a ghost-town.

also i have been at this particular place long enough now to be developing a bit of gym-rage at retards dropping weights on the ground, leaving weights and plates lying around and racked up on bars, and generally being in-considerate and using more than one bench or monopolising use of multiple items of equipment with ridiculous placement of themselves or their bench etc.... but thats a personal issue for me to deal with! nice to vent though.

finally i am happy with the squat session today, hooray. onwards and upwards.

80.2kg this avo

Ok, squats sound good.
Can you give it two clear weeks now? No interruptions?

I think the next 2 weeks are the trick.
I'll see Benny in person at that time too.

No hypertrophy is secondary now to power.
Actually, your bet with Benson aside, i don't really care how heavy or big you get. So long as your power/strength goes crazy thats the most beneficial to your game.

Did i post the extra oil thing?
Maybe not.
Can you get 1-2 tablespoons of a quality cold pressed oil into your diet per day.
Olive oil, flaxseed oil etc is best. Not a crappy veg oil.

The goal is extra calories in a clean fashion, but their are other benefits to these good fats too.

Lets do a podcast next week after a solid weeks training and food?

I suspect that the 'sticky point' for you and Alex has now passed (prob yesterday for both of you)
So now it's plain sailing!

righto with the oil.

last night there was hockey on, standard monday night hockey.

i went to the gym in the avo, then played soccer then went back to the gym at 8:30 to finish off, then dinner etc....

it was 11pm lying in bed when i actually realised i had forgotten to go to hockey... that has only happened perhaps a couple of times in my life before, back when i was in school. i've skipped hockey or missed it, but never forgotten it was on...

i'm not sure what that means. probably just that i'm an idiot for forgetting.

I don't. As the coach of the US Men's team it would be remiss of me if I didn't warn you of what old age does and advise you to retire now before it's too late. First time I forgot about a practice, I stopped playing Masters. It's the right thing to do Liam. At some point you will forget to breathe (either on the way up or down). It's the next step and I don't want to see that happen to you. It truly is best that you quit right now, only work on getting heavier and stronger, and leave the hockey to the young guys that can still remember to put on their togs.
