firstly, how come i cant sleep unless im nice and cosy and warm then?

secondly, carl has the most error-free solution with his jump in an ice bath... except you'd fall asleep (eventually) AND die. probably a one-time solution only.

thirdly, nat, what have cicadas got to do with it? although they sleep for like 17 years or something dont they?

on a more serious note, what is the best way to take your HR when waking up in the morning without jamming it full throttle with a screeching alarm clock?

I've been suffering from the same lack of sleep problems due to late night games for quite some time now, it usually feels like im playing UWH in my sleep (along with waking up every 30 mins ),

lately when I get in from hockey (around 11:30pm) i'll make a warm drink, then sit and read a book to try and take my mind off the game that night (rather than mind numbingly sit staring at the television). once I start to feel tired.I hit the sack

it's still not a perfect nights sleep but I feel like I'm getting a whole lot more than I was previously.

southernpuck is on a distinguished road
I might try Nats suggestion of trying to cool down. I seem to fall asleep the quickest when I am feeling cool and the bed is invitingly warm.

nutrition and training

Hi Carl

I m just wondering if you have some basic rules when it comes to what sort of food you eat before a game and just after a game?

I am currently doing some weight training, and playing uwh 3 times a week. i try and fit in one other gym session if i have time, maybe a cyle.

Weights i normally do in the morning, Hockey is in the evening. I am in the older age group bracket.

I am looking at maintaining my current weight.

I am just wondering if an improved diet will help my ability during the game?

And is there any foods to avoid completely?

Cheers
Sharon

I don't think that two cups of coffee per day is in any way excessive.
