ha, hilarious! and first move they show is the rolypoly move that started this thread... obviously someone in the states is a benson fan.

nice to see kendall get some recognition too, tho i can't believe his daughter is playing at age four! wow.

Not denying that there are Benson fans in the States, personally I think he’s a great guy and love to talk hockey or freediving with him, however the roly poly thing in the first shot was also Kendall. He's been doing that among some other funny things as part of a warm up for about as long as Benson's been playing. Loads of folks have laughed at it, especially we had a get together with the Canadians in Montreal about 6 months prior to '98 worlds and a bunch of the Montreal boys were laughing at it saying things like when are you going to do that in a game how silly, etc... but really the point is everything you'd said in the earlier post its not necessarily direct practice for a game move but just getting used to moving with the puck and keeping control... plus in this type of television spot and to people that have never seen the sport its kinda flashy.

To expand this in a few other sports i've played a large part of conditioning was movements that are a bit disorientating or abnormal to get used to moving in ways you might otherwise not be used to. We tried to work that into our team warm up in Sheffield but there was just not enough space and time, especially when we had some guys that couldn’t swim upside down and straight at the same time.

As far as game use and the barrel role, in mixed level games there are a few of us around Club puck that use it in much the same way as your first vid clip, but I wouldn’t use it in an A game or higher usually because of how exposed and blind you are for part of the move.

haha, too late man, i think in europe and most places those roly moves are associated too strongly with benson and therefore nz... i guess he must have been the first to try all that stuff in top level games.

but yeah, get kendall back into the elite grade so we can play him again! i only got to play him in 2000 and 2002 i think... the usa team was strong both times tho.

i'm sure he'll have lots of company with guys like kelly and gav playing too.... and maybe a huge bunch of old dutch guys like there were in sheffield, tho obviously they haven't found this site yet, or are happy to read and laugh.

Go easy there!!! You can put Kelly in with the old bastards (cause he is!) but I am yet to reach the ripe old age of being able to play with the old farts! I may look it but I'm hanging on as long as I can (which isn't too much longer ) There's still a few World's left in me yet. I mean if Sandor is still doing it......

hey i'm a baby but i feel old, we just had a mens training camp and we had 2 16 year olds in my team all weekend, and there were more in the other teams!

Gav...I think you are perfectly handsome for your young age and have got at least another 3 Worlds left!
I of course am trying to keep up with Lena (I know it is virtually impossible...but I am going to try!) so I have another 9-12 worlds left depends when she stops!

Liam it's great that NZ have the junior kids to bring through and that some guy's with more experience (like you!) are there to help them.

The way Aus is going Kelly will HAVE to be back playing Worlds in 2008 ;-)...how about it Kelly?????

dont worry, kelly is still doing his bit... he's hooked up matt hart with a nice aussie lass and now matt is in cocooning mode again, and we might not see him in the kiwi team again, haha!

now all you need to do is find an aussie lass for the strongest players in all the other countries kelly! lol
