i like it. with no set distance for breathing, it would be called shallow bumps, or alternatively, a surface swim with a very deep dolphin kick, breathing on every second kick.

Yeah, yards. We're Americans and we won't get on board with anything that makes sense. In case you're curious, 3 feet in a yard and twelve inches in a foot, so 36 inches in a yard. Logic escapes this system. I know this is stretching beyond the limits of my troll intellect but the easy conversion is 1.1 yards per meter. And if you want to make the set really difficult, do it for a mile. That would be 1760 yards. Again, don't bring logic into this.

The first and only time I did a yard of anything was my 21st. A yard can be a long way.

So Duck, what do you measure - the time to do the distance or how many breaths it takes (or both)? 500yards (or metres) is long way.

Initially it might be "did you finish?" and then the improvement from there. I picture it would be obvious that you are making progress with it much like Rocky (in the first of the 45 part movie series) running the steps and finally making it to the top. Having not done it nor imposed it on the men's team, yet, I have no idea. I would guess both would be a good measure. Possibly a point system where you add time and some number of points for each breath. Might even make the breaths at the end cost you more, but maybe they should be worth more at the beginning to penalize the ones not pushing it early.

So do it and let me know what happens. I'll keep tabs and figure out what the best measurement is.
