| All this talk of inverted hook barrel push turns... blah blah blah... is all well and good, but NOTHING beats a good swerve/dummy/feint/(insert preferred name for a swerve here) ![]() |

| haha! true, but i find the most satisfying thing to be when someone trys something really complicated and twisted in front of you, and you just wait until they're either finished or in a ridiculously weakposition, and then smash 7 shades of... lets say tile grout out of them. it's the funniest thing in the game i think.

| Atapene you're such a big hairy Neanderthal...smashing poor Benny all of the time. :-) It doesn't matter how fancy you think a move is, if you practice enough it can become effective in a game. You must practice not until you get it right, you must practice until you never get it wrong, then you can use it in a game. |

| Well, after trying and trying and trying the Benson pick up, practicing plenty, getting pummeled when it goes wrong by big mean men. I did it last night, and it worked (against a big mean man). Yippie!!! My mother always said practice makes perfect. And so it does. My favorite move still has to be the dummy/swerve, its the satisfaction of swimming right past someone, not even touching them and sometimes hearing a little underwater growl of frustration from them is great. So next on my skill learning agenda is... a flick from the inside (hook side) of my stick, this i am finding very difficult :? Ciao Sophia |

| ahaha! it just so happens i was mucking round filming the boys playing tonight, testing out one of the guys underwater casings, and i took a vid of a couple of backflicks. here's the youtube link... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-nIbcFlJaM basically the most important thing is to get spin on the puck. once you build up a bit of strength in your arm by practicing, you can do the pass using just strength and timing, which is the method used in the clip... (sorry i'll try to get a simpler elbow pass up tomorrow) but before that, you can get a decent pass by making sure you pull your elbow BACK as quick and far as you can in the action of the pass. this will help provide the spin on the puck you need to stabilize it by running the inside edge along the puck. it's one of my favourite passes ...if you hadn't guessed.

| Sophia, start with small steps. 10-15 shots max and then stop. Last thing you want to do is pop out 100 of these and screw up your elbow or shoulder. Also have you tried rotating your stick in your hand so the thumb is on top of the stick and the motion is more like throwing a ball side-arm. Unless you are not flexible or have Popeye forearms it's easier on your body that way. Duck
