I used to use a stick very like Svens about 10 years ago. It's great for inserting between an opponents stick and the puck to dispossess them. Lots of fun going down the wall too - good for spiking and if you hit it right the puck'll come off the wall at a 45 degree angle giving you an avenue into the middle of the pool. The centralised hook pulls the balance back as well, making it nice and fast.

FORWARD SHOT/FLICK

Train/Train
This is an simple way to train. Just aim above the obstacel. But dont do it without swimming.
We always swimm when we train different ways off flicking.
Why? Just ask yourself. When in the game have you time to flick without swimming.

First photo from left to right is not a simple flick forwards (sorry)
Its a flick from the not playing side with the backside of the stick(hook) forwards
It starts like the benson move only with the backside from the stick forwards.

Most time your are swimming. If not and you have a good opponent you are blockt.
But yes i can also flick when not swimming.
But most time i see oponents that can flick only when not swimming.
Thats terreble/sad. So easy to block. And only because they do not train movements and flicking when swimming.

Train your flicks in all directions, when stationary, moving, sprinting, off all surfaces of the stick.
Problem solved.
Oh, and to all heights, lengths and speeds.
And with long motion, short motion, wrist only, punch flicks, stick flat and stick rotating styles of throw. Just to cover all the angles.

Man I'm glad we play such a simple game.

Oh, did I forget to mention - Stop practising flicks. Everybody. They're useless anyway. Practise some real skills and dance through the opposition like a drunken ballerina on ice skates.

I do realy not agee with you.
Some times a ballerina like play is the best. Some time you just need a good flick
Every skill and movement is important to train.

So practisch every skill and movement. And use them in the game.

A jack of all trades is master of none.
I defy anybody to "practise every skill and movement. And use them in the game". I've tried. It's real hard.
If only because we're a long way from discovering every movement, but even with the ones we have...

Figure out the type of player you want to be, and the skill set you need to be that player. Train appropriately.
