"An English underwater hockey player slithered into sporting history when she set a new record at the World Bog Snorkeling Championship.

School teacher Joanne Pitchforth, 35, beat an international field of 120 to emerge filthy but triumphant.

She eclipsed husband Hadyn Pitchforth, who cam in sixth and who was last year's men's winner at the unlikely sport.

Pitchforth's time put her into the record books by the most slender of margins, coming in at 1 min 35:18 sec.

Competitors in snorkels and flippers have to complete two lengths of a 55m trench without using conventional swimming strokes."

Hehe, news travels fast. Good on Jo. I know of one or two guys who will be greatly disappointed after the weekends competition. You show them girl!!!

One of the ladies here in Perth, Jan Tyler, was also World Bog Snorkelling Champion quite a few years ago.
