| Euro's 2010, World Age Group Championship 2011 To all presidents, to all secretary, and all Hockey Players. Dear Friends, The CMAS Commission is proud to announce that the next European Open Championships (EOC) will be held in Portugal in either Coimbra or Oporto, pending a decision which will be taken soon and after the validation of the BOD. The EOC is open to all European senior national men’s and women’s teams as well as teams from outside of Europe. The tournament will be hosted from the 15th until the 24th of April 2010. Secondly the first Age Group (under 18 , Masters and under 21 or 23, the category will be clarified soon) World Championships in Portugal. This will take place in either the second or third week of April 2011. Thirdly we would also like to remind you that the next World Championship for senior national men’s and women’s teams will be held in Colombia in 2011. The exact date will be announced by the CMAS headquarters soon. Fourthly we call for countries to apply to host events in 2012 and 2013. We apologize for the delay in the announcement of the tournament dates and venues. This was an unfortunate consequence of our protracted negotiations with the Columbian federation. Regrettably it has been decided that we cannot sanction the proposed 2010 tournament in Columbia. We hope that they will be able to join us as competitors in the competitions we have announced. Sincerely Thomas de TRÉBONS

| glad to have some kind of announcement out officially! at least this lets us know where we stand. europe is a bit expensive, and with 5 months notice too soon also. i guess we will look at other options to develop our players next year. hopefully cheaper. looking forward to development of an international timetable so we can plan towards events in the future.

| @WTD, I think you might have read it wrongly. The Euros is the qualifier for the European teams. By absence of qualifiers in other regions for now, I don't know how that will happen. @Liam It is indeed a shame that for the youngsters the notice comes this late. It's almost impossible to make them grow for the next two years this way. |

| Growth isn't the concern... getting your life organized so you can make the journey is the issue. 5 months warning for an inter-continental trip, unless your wealthy and jobless, is likely not enough to plan properly. Vacation/Holiday time being a key factor.

| "getting your life organized" yup thats it. the longer we spend with no longterm timetable, the more players will lose interest and stop playing or look to their hobbies that they can actually plan towards. i see this happening already.

| Totally agree with Liam, when you don't have a goal/target, you don't see the purpose of training and growth. At least there is some kind of action happening and we'll just have to be glad about that. Now the next step is to get WAA and CMAS back together. If they both wouldn't be so stubborn that would be so much better to inspire great hockey! We players just want to play! Possibly at the highest level possible! ![]()

| We had Tomas' French and Spanish versions of the announcement for 2011 Colombia translated and were told that it should say Masters, not Senior. Might want to get this verified by a C-org official with knowledge (I know, could be hard to find) before plans are made.

| to determine age groupings requires some work: 1.0 define terms - masters, junior, elite, senior, etc then 2.0 2.1 read CMAS regs 1.6 through 2.2 read ages listed in which/whatever hockey rules are relevant to you CMAS 1.6 makes/lists many criteria which then need be applied to hockey age spipulated in which ever rules - ie CMAS write no player may player lower than his/her age group; therefore, as CMAS hockey rules say masters begin at 35, a player over 35 cannot play 'down' or cannot play elite.
