European Championship 2008

Does any one knows if there´s a website from the european championship that will be in Turkey ?

haven't seen one yet, but it looks certain that's where the comp will be... i gather they are currently investigating suitable pools

European 2008 - Istanbul

Does anyone know anything else about eurochamp in Turkey?

All,

The GB Ladies Elite yesterday decided to withdraw from Durban with intent to enter Istanbul instead. This is a decision of the team based on the many issues surrounding the current situation and not due to any one single reason or any input from myself.

Therefore the Open and Ladies Elite expect to attend Turkey.

As you all know, The European Underwater Hockey Championship will be held in Istanbul - Turkey, between the dates April 26 / May 3 2008

All the details regarding the Championship are given below.

We also would like to inform you that CMAS UWH Commission will take the ranking of the European Championship in Istanbul into account for the next CMAS World Games in 2009 as part of the European Zone qualifiers.


The Participation Fee for the tournament is 950.- euro per team to be paid to Turkish Underwater Sports Federation by 28th January 2008 .

Airport Transfer:
The cost of pick up from the airport and transfer to the hotel will be 15.- euro per person one way . If you wish Airport Transfer, please send an e-mail to the Travel Agency informing them about your flight details and number of pax arriving. The transfer cost can be paid upon arrival.

Banquet :
The cost of the Banquet, Drink and music will be 30 Euro per person, payable upon arrival.

We have appointed O.D.S Travel Agency for Airport transfers, Hotel booking , bus/car rental.

Please note that the pool is away from the center of Istanbul and close to Ataturk Airport . Therefore, to secure convenient accomodations, you must book early.
They will request payments as soon as booking is confirmed , for various accomodations in Istanbul, it is ideal if you can give them a per person, per day budget.
Ikitelli Sport Complex is located in the 4th lap of Basaksehir which is quite a distance from the city centre . All three hotels are in a relatively close distance to the Pool which means under normal conditions (without busy traffic and not in rush hours) it will take you 30 min. by car to get there. Morning traffic must also be taken into consideration and more time should be given to reach the Pool on time. Public transportation to İkitelli is rare, limited and not commonly preferred due to heavy traffic. Most favorably, private cars and/or coaches should be used for transportation. In case you would like to make your own accommodation arrangements, we highly recommend you not to choose hotels which are in city centre (considering the long distance and heavy traffic) and cheap accommodation options on which you do not have sufficient information.
We strongly recommend you to rent mini / midi buses/cars in order to be transferred to the pool without hassling in the busy traffic of a big city.

The Travel Agency will inform you about the guided tours to various sights in Istanbul during the Championship

The Championship info was sent out by the secretary General, Pierre Dernier on 12/1/08
It went to all Sport Committee member Federations which I thought was odd considering it was for a European Championship. I wondered if it was open to non European countries.
