With some slight alterations in eligibility rules you might just pull that off

Didn't there used to be a rule that a world championships in underwater hockey had to have more than just countries from one continent? Something about three continents?

Or is my memory way off here?

I think they changed that rule

It was actually a coaches team. On the team were:
Benson Taylor NZ slovenian coach
Liam Watson NZ turkish coach
Guillaume Wattelet FR belgian coach
Jacques Brechaire FR french coach
Eryl Adams GB belgian girls coach
Francois Botton FR/BE belgian player
and another french player whose name I don't know

They beat the french team about 8:5 in some 15-20 minutes.

not yet ...

I don't think that Bari can be considered as a world championship, CMAS even dont respect it's own rules. Look at 1.4.2.2 of this document :

"An international competition filling all requests as by 1.3.2.1 will be registered in the calendar as world championships if all the here below conditions will be satisfied during the last world championship:
a. 10 countries at least subdivided into
b. 3 continents at least or
c. 2 continents at least, but in that case with 2 countries minimum in the second."

Now, if we want to be the real wold champions, we have to beat NZ an Dutch

Does someone out there know where it says in the rules who is the World Champs? Better yet, as this really needs to happen more often, who wins a match?

heres a very rough translation of some congratulations to the french teams from their federation president, which includes a couple of interesting sidenotes.... from hockeysub.com

As a President of the National Commission of Subaqueous Hockey, I wished to congratulate you for the two gold medals obtained at the time of these first world plays of the CMAS. Each international competition is important and French hockey held its row once again, even if all the nations practising hockey were not present. Other international events concerning subaqueous hockey will take place in 2008, it will be necessary, without any doubt, to confirm these good results. The stakes will be of another nature in comparison with turbulences which cross hockey on a world level. Information to you will be communicated as soon as I will have obtained clear and precise answers on the evolution of the organization of hockey at the international level. To conclude, I wish you good holidays. Still cheer.
