Can we keep this to Atapene's actual reportage only please.
If you want to start a new thread on rules, ref's etc, the go ahead and start one.
Here we're getting live updates from the games - which is fantastic.

Great work Liam!

ok then quick update, back at the accom for lunch. semis this morning, italy went down to france men 12-0 first up, tough game for them.

then womens semis, france beat belgium and then turkey women beat spain 7-1 in the second semi, promised to be a close match and was a tense affair but pretty controlled win in the end. lots of refs calls... foul count went overwhelmingly against spain (like about 12-6 or so) BUT strangely the sinbin count was the other way, about 4 turkey sinbins and maybe just 1 spanish one. tells an interesting story but i won't bother to elaborate, the game was a good one,as soon as turkey went a couple of goals up spain were forced to try to limit the damage to stay in the game by playing the walland it became a battle to keep it on the wall from spain and bring it off for turkey... there were some really good goals scored going wide with some great passes, and really good spells of defence from the spanish team.

second mens semi was again spain vs turkey, turkey controlled the game all the way through despite again having to contend with the refs seeming to bin turks all game and merely call adv pucks against the spanish... at one point there was some justice,a turk having been binned for an accidental glove on the wall just a minute before (like, not a blatant one right, just a half second before flipping the stick over...) and then on a turkish runaway the spanish defender completely intentionally ripped the turks arm away... the goal was scored by support players but the refs were ready to start play until the turk VC went and complained to the chief ref and finally after 2 mins deliberation a spaniard was sent to the bin. turks were down to 4, 5, 4 again at one point before the refs again went mental and started biffing everyone out, a spanish player too for good measure, turks had to defend with only 2 players in the last minute of the game and the spanish just managed to sneak the goal in with 10 seconds to spare to make the score look a bit more respectable.

enough about the reffing. as we left the pool the italians were preparing to show-down with the belgians in what i think is the second 5-6th playoff match... there wasa match played last night as well.as i understnd it from the technical meeting the scores from last night will be added to the tally today to give a winner. no idea why this method was adopted but no-one had any problem with it at the beginning of the comp and it gives the teams one more game.

slovenia are preparing to play spain men for the bronze right now... i think they learned a lot about how to get the result they wanted from the 2-2 draw they had with spain last time... spain are telegraphing their advantage pucks pretty obviously for one thing though i dunno if the slovenians will be able to get much out of that. i think they'll do better to just try to play the puck in the middle of the pool and hold possession... while the spanish are fit and strong they do get pulled all over the show and holes appear when play is in the middle of the court. anyway.

france play turkey in both finals this avo, after the spanish playoff with the belgian women for bronze in the womens, will be very tough for the belgians after they had the worst of france this morning but then again the semi might have taken a lot out of spain and the belgians have had more rest today... who knows.

i went to find the fins stand and its disappeared for the moment, will try again later this avo to get a few photos if i canof the new nemo fins and others.

quickly before we all go to the party...

france won both divisions, women won convincingly and men too in the end, but turkey men were down only 1-0 at halftime, up in front of the french bin and in the french corners for long periods and definitely IN the game until a few minutes into the second half when a couple of sinbins made things harder and i think their fitness couldnt keep up with the french. but it was exciting stuff for 20 minutes!

slovenia beat spain in a great game for bronze in the mens, it went into extra time! spain disappointed not to get to the podium but they played well. womens bronze went to spain over belgium 6-3 but the belgians came back strongly in the second half to score those goals was a good improvement from them.

playoff for 5-6 in the mens went to belgium over italy, im sorry but i didnt note the score.

party time now, we'll see if these italians can throw a good bash.
