go the underdogs... ...well, then, go everyone! except france. no-one must cheer for france, i'm afraid. they have to be the big bad favourites. is anyone taking bets? we need to see the registrations so we can start forecasting.

i think i'll be there if the turks are there, but i don't know if they will be or not, none of the guys have told me anything definite. i heard yesterday that there were 7 teams registered in the mens grade but when i asked which ones they couldn't give me an answer... i think the cmas guy originally giving the info was on holiday or something and couldn't remember off-hand. but without seeing anything, on the website for example, thats just more speculation i guess, sorry to add to the piles of we-can't-quite-call-that-a-fact stuff....

Hello As nobody from CMAS UWH Commission as done it yet, I've called directly Pierre Dernier - CMAS SG - on Friday. He was confirmed that: 1) Teams who have paid their registration fees for BARI are : MEN 1. FRANCE 2. SLOVENIA 3. COLOMBIA 4. BELGIUM 5. TURKEY 6. SPAIN 7. ITALY WOMEN 1. FRANCE 2. COLOMBIA 3. TURQUEY 4. SPAIN 5. BELGIUM (Registration are still open until the end of June...) 2) Competition will be a round robin organised by France & Italy. 3) Maximum two games a day per team 4) There will be 12 UWRugby Men Teams... So once again UWR Com did better than our Com and once again UWH will be under-represented :? 5) CMAS wanted Durban event to be called "World Cup" or anything else appart "World Championship". Personaly, with Benson coaching Slovenia, Liam coaching Turkey and the presence of the "Columbian Nightmare" I understand that USA and UK are afraid to join  I've heard that Dutch Team will spend its summer time in SA practicing "aqua challenge". South Hemispher's Teams have already had their big event this year. But what about other teams like Canada? But what about women & juniors' teams? Division and "rebranding" Is it really what UWH players wanted? Was all that blabla really done in the best interest of UWH? Romain

| If calling the Durban tournament a 'World Cup' instead of 'world champs' is all it takes to keep CMAS happy, then it seems a pretty small price to pay to stop the uwh world splitting in 2. Doesn't world cup have connotations of a higher grade tournament in any case - see football, rugby, cricket [cough cough]. I was under the impression that junior teams are/were not welcome in Bari. I am guessing that the USA & Canada [like NZ teams] are entirely self-funded by the players - who cannot afford to travel to Europe 2 years in a row. Yee gods man, think of the planet. What is the carbon footprint of an international uwh player? hahahahaha. why not ask where many other european nations' registrations are? if they are planning to attend they should be organised enough, by now, to have an entry in. sorry if this is moving off-thread, sometimes the thread a concern arises in is the best place to make a point.

AMC's right the US players cannot afford the time and money to travel to Europe two years in a row AND still make a real effort to go to South Africa. Although Romain makes a very obvious assumption that we motivated by fear, woud be ducking away from Slovenia, Turkey and Columbia so we can tavel to South Africa and play against Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands and South Africa, that has nothing to do with the descision not to attend BARI.
