| Wonder if these folkes might have something to say... you know, in the big picture... http://www.iwsf.com/scorebooks/poste...ook06FRA13.htm |

| And after taking the name, let's use the Nike Swoosh as our Logo. Starbucks never sued CMAS for stealing theirs, but I'm sure Nike would and then we could get some publicity. So who did think of this and commit to it? Maybe there needs to be discussion before the player's future lgame get convoluted into something bizarre and tied up in the courts, again. |

| Names Seen them all Duck, you have actually missed a couple of others, should try some other search engines. The name does not infringe on anybodies copy rights. Like I said we are well past the point of changing this but knock yourself out if you feel it is worth it. Cheers.

| One of the common threads throughout this topic is how terrible CMAS are because they never communicated with its members and did things without concensus from the general hockey community and here we go again... Graham, there is no such thing as past the point of changing. We are a small amateur sport that's only been in existence for a relatively short period of time. What can be so urgent that the participants of a sport can not be inolved in its development and evolution? I am happy to be told I am wrong but only if this sort of decision has been put out there for discussion, filtered down to the participants through the structures and back up again with the views and wishes of the members being represented. Graham, you were involved in the unions for many years, they would never have done something as major as a name change without full support of the member base surely? Again, all of this is not a criticism of any work you and others have done so far or your intentions but in this and many organisations the same mistakes seem to keep being made as if we never learn from our past mistakes. |

| the discussion of a name change has come up on hockeynet a couple of times, maybe a couple years ago now most recently? i remember aqua challenge being one of the offerings. i also remember not many good ideas that anyone really liked. to be honest, i will still be telling people i play underwater hockey. my friends and family all think i play underwater hockey. and i'll continue to. this whole thing is purely political... the game in this country has a small public identity but what there is we cant afford to butcher with a name change. or at least it must stay similar. can we not just drop the "under" off the front? water hockey? its nearly the same thing but surely different enough for copyright purposes? hockey, icehockey, underwater hockey, water hockey..... ? |

| Names Kelly you are drawing on some very broad and incorrect analogies, we are not blaming CMAS for not discussing issues with every hockey player. We have argued that they did not discuss things with their own elected officials. What would you like us to do on this issue? Write to every hockey player in the world so we can get a consensus opinion. I am afraid due to time constraints we don't have the luxury of going up and down the communication tree to wait 3 years for a decision. A name is also something that you would never get consensus on especially when you only look at it from an English speaking point of view, in French and Spanish I sure they will have some left field suggestions. If you are going to sit there and criticise us then feel free to take a position on the Hockey Commission and really contribute. We are elected to make decisions on behalf of hockey players and we will continue to make them in the best interest of all concerned, if we make the wrong ones then we will be taken to task at our elections. You may wish to consider that the only reason you are talking about this is because I am trying to do the right thing here and make this forum work and your world president is Australian, so you get some inside goss to the workings of things. If I seem a little annoyed it is because I am, I am glad to hear you are not criticizing the work we have done so far, but hang on a minute you just have. Cheers. PS you may wish to fill out your profile so I know who I am talking to

| Since it is a, stubbornly put, "done deal" why has it not been officially announced that we are out of CMAS and moving on to this new organization with a new name for the sport? USOA, our US governing body has not made the announcement so as far as I am concerned it is not done. And as a member of the US Underwater Hockey Executive Committee, I can assure you and all others that it has never been discussed or approved by the US. As far as knocking myself out, well, okay. I will begin by announcing it to all I know that this is a done deal according to the World Hockey Commission. I will check with Carol Rose, President of USOA, to see what her input has been and what she has or has not agreed upon. I suspect there will be resisitence to the name change amoungst many if not nearly all from the US. Having kept quiet on the subject, due to possible changes in various situations affecting outcomes of lawsuits, meetings, boards, etc., I do not know for sure what the resistence will be, but I suppose I will find out shortly, now that it is “done”. I truly wonder who will blindly follow a group that has done this under the cloak of secrecy. If the decision has been made, announce it. If it is “done” as you say, what’s the hold up? |

| Since when was the uwh commission ever elected? Graham is elected, by cmas voting members, at some big cmas soiree every 4 year years - last time was 2005. the commission members are appointed by Graham. that's not election, that's selection. quite different things. makes it very easy to get things 'done' though if you have a committee of like-minded souls. i do think french/spanish/german/czech/slovenian & turkish speaking uwh players should be canvassed for possible names - we might get a really cool sounding one. i'm not such a francophobe as to reject their language out of hand.
