| Liars and cheats Duck you don't move quick enough with the times CMAS has already changed the rules relating to what constitutes a world championship. The 10 countries from 3 continents rule now only applies to competitions held outside the CMAS Games, such as Spearfishing. Mr Ferrero is telling everybody that the only reason that Masters and Juniors is not recognised is because we haven't officially asked for them to be recognised ( I think I just saw a pig fly past my window) It will be great to see a world championship consisting of a few European countries, Hmm reminds me of world series baseball  I will Circulate shortly the minutes of the meeting Ferrero had in Kranje with the hockey group there, he takes telling porkie pies to a new level. It will be so good to be rid of this cancer on our sport and have hockey people making decisions for hockey. All the way with WAA Cheers

| Name Change I was thinking I may as well get the ball rolling on the whole "name-change" debate... To be honest, the over-whelming majority of people who I have spoken to have had the opinion that "aquachallenge" doesn't encapsulate the true spirit and nature of the game - basically it doesn't sound good. I know its difficult to find a new name, and the one that has been chosen has its merits - but I think people are concerned that it is so far removed from the sport that we have played and loved for years. Aquachallenge: aqua - obviously water, challenge - I assume referring to the fact that its bloody hard to play whilst holding your breath. I suppose my problem is that no-where does it refer to "sub-aqua/underwater, no-where does it refer to it being a team sport, and nowhere does it refer to it being a sport where you wield an instrument and interact with an independent "object". Everyone will agree how difficult it is explaining to someone how underwater hockey works - but at least the name conjures up some kind of visual reference... what does aquachallenge do? What about Ultimate Hockey.... Aqua Hockey... Some people even think a double syllable name is the key - think soccer, football, hockey, swimming... all double syllables! Oh, what's in a name? That which we call a game by any other word would make us just as wet.

| i like the removal of the " under" personally. its a mouthful and if we said water hockey it would be perfectly descriptive enough... waterpolo is played largely under the surface too but it comes out the mouth easily enough! i too think aqua challenge though, really does sound like one of the games off fear factor. there is no reference or mental image at all... we have enough trouble explaining ourselves with the little story that we all know by heart as it is. this is going to make it harder. but, is this all academic? sounds like graham has sold the house on the aqua challenge name already... how far along the road is it graham, is there any point in debate? or can we come up with some name while aqua challenge is the governing body, which i think is what belle was referring to? |

| Excellent point/s Alex. I agree. I don't think that Aqua Challenge is in any way descriptive of the sport. I am not being criticial of any work and ideas so far done by WTD and others as I know how hard these things are, but there are some valid points by valid people being expressed here that arer representative of people that I have spoken to so far. |

| I am totally guessing here, but I'd bet I'm very close to accurate. The name was developed by5 or less people and no more than 25 have agreed that it fits. If you tossed it out to the world hockey community 90% or more would say "WHAT the F..." And we are the ones that are playing this game. Also, Graham is as stubborn as me so it won't change unless a lot of pressure is put on him. |

| Names Duck you give me far to much credit, I can only dream of being as stubborn as you Sorry guys but the name is a done deal, and for the record I didn't think it up. We could not afford the time for a lengthy discussion on names and please remember this forum is very very small at the moment so in the big picture...........,.,.., Cheers
