| Don't mean to butt in here but i will... yes move the WAA feedback to the Politicians Soap Box so WTD can resond without confusion as he's rightly requested please. What are the official colours of NZ (ps; I'm a Kiwi so now I'm confused)

| Good Morning to all.... Just commenting on the 2 sides per coutry if wanted.... As i understand it, and yes i could be WRONG.... Elite side will play in the A-League and the second side will be playing in the B-League... This was done to improve development for UW Hockey, as there are less and less numbers each year... Perfect example is the countries commiting to this year's WC, in the mens open Elite, there are 18 countries yet only 10 are going to Worlds... Yes, funds are an issue, but it can't be so for 8 countries, thats just silly... I don't even wanna get started on the other divisions as there numbers are much less! So i'm all for the 2 sides per country, and the more games the better...

| Actually, sorry to correct you there NZ captain, NZ's official colours are Black, white and aqua/blue/green. As far as I am aware, no country has transparent yellow tint with "PINCH ME" in red on the backside as an official colour. Go fast Carol, it's still open...

OK, I agree, the more hockey the b-countries get, the better it is for them and for hockey. One fatal flaw in your logic above though (...straining my memory of the rules...) is that when there are 10 countries in a division there will be no b-poule, but a single round robin with all teams. I would not be keen for a b-poule situation to be created just to allow more than one team from a country to compete.

| Sure there were B-poules in the previous worlds, but that was because more than 10 countries attended. I still think it's strange. Sure the argument of playing more games is ver important, but how can you run a WC with two teams from each country? In my opinion you just turn it into a regular tournament than where just everybody can come. |

| Yep, there has. I am not sure of the exact ruling, since I often assume the rules don't apply to me I try not to read them, but I believe that the limit of teams for a single round robin is 11 in the official rules. Maybe Carol or Graham or someone with a rules book can confirm that? ie: - 11 or less (maybe 10 ir less) 1 poule consisting of all competing teams - 12 or more, top 8 in A-poule, rest in B-poule with some cross poule 'friendlies'. Total number of games for A-poule countries should not change under both systems since there are usually 2-3 cross-poule friendlies between A and B poule. Ahhh, off the top of my head the B-poule concept was introduced around '98 since the number of teams before '96 was usually 8 or 9. In '96 there were 11 I think, and in San Jose in '98 suddenly around 15. Since then I think there has been a b-poule at every worlds except 2004 in Christchurch where there were 9 (?) teams.

| For World's 2008 (just to stay on topic) it will be as it has been in the past. The split for B comes once there are 13 or more teams. Not sure what happens at 21 or 25. Any less than 13 and you get fairly screwed up on the scheduling if you split it. At 11 you would have 8 and 3 so that doesn't make sense. At 13 you get 8 and 5 so you get more than half a division with friendlies filling the gaps. You can read about it in section 4 of the rules which I just did and noticed that the rules have changed to read that inter-division games are not required -- rule 4.1.4.3.1 It then goes on to say that if the team from Section A does not want to play then the team from Section B can schedule an opponent, but if the team from Section B chooses not to play then the pool remains empty. It is not to be used for practice. I wonder what the timeline for deciding not to play is. I would hate to be the team that planned on playing just to show up and find that the other team decides to cancel and then you can't even get in the water to use the time. That would suck. Wow. Don't respond to this here. It should be in the rules section.
