| Hi Steve I don't know if you've seen, but Carl has had the sense to ask Tony some straight questions on the "CMAS Proposal" thread to try to put an end to the rumours and speculation about whether players/nations that participate at Durban will be banned from CMAS competitions in the future... Let's hope we get straight answers soon! C |

As far as the timing of World's in Sheffield, how was the timing of it last time a bad thing? Seems to me the only side affect is that more countries showed up. Perhaps the blame can be on me for throwing a party but perhaps it could also be put on CMAS for having a policy that would ban anyone for competing. Isn't that what we are supposed to do? And maybe for purposely scheduling a Euro Champs at the same time? yeah, maybe that's the bad timing.... hmmmm We'll have all the King's Teas and then some. And of course the cake will be yummy.

| For scheduling a major competition, all countries are at the mercy of their venue; secondly we should now consider the juniors and school. There will be fewer juniors in Durban due to the timing. USA will have any major we schedule in northern hemisphere summer months - ie mid June thru mid August. The only thing keeping US juniors at home (and in school studying) in 2008 is the time frame. And here is a blast: unless someone objects or offers alternative, some country that is, USA will bid 2010 WC for early August in Minneapolis Minnesota - at University of Minnesota - you won't believe their mascot! That area, to save you a trip to the atlas, is in Great Lakes area of US - mid country and sort of north near Lake Superior.

| Hey, I'm a European (like many others) who is more than happy that the worlds is not in Europe. Surely one of the best things about playing hockey is getting to see the world and travelling to different places. I think branding us all with the same stamp is a little unfair Duck. We all agree politics suck and all we want to do is play the best hockey we can against the best opposition. It seems to me that although everyone says they only have the best intentions for the sport there are some people out there who definitely get a kick out of all the mess (being polite) that is going on. I know GB ladies have now had their selection session for the worlds and our team has been decided upon...this hasn't removed the uncertainty about what is going on but I know I probably speak for all the girls when I say every single one of us is more than looking forward to going to South Africa and playing some hockey...with or without the support of the boa. | You're right Rach. Categorizing England/GB/UK in with the European generalization is not what I intended. I know the Brits travel and enjoy doing so, as do a couple of other countries from that region. Perhaps it is just my viewpoint but I never think of the Motherland as European much like many do not consider Canadians as Americans even though they are one of the three countries that make up North America. My apparently unclear point was trying to get to why Europe is so important in Steve's eyes in regards to Hockey. He says it is but offers no support. He says WAA would be supported if World's were in Sheffield in March????? How? The countries afraid of playing because of a ban would still be afraid. The distance has nothing to do with it.

| "with or without the support of the boa" is the operative phrase, as i gather the BOA and BUSA have just withdrawn their intent to participate in durban. does that mean a GB team will attend under another banner? or will they just turn up and play and no-one will pay attention to their line of red tape?

| would that make any "GB" team that entered a barbarian team? what recognition will WAA give such a team? does that mean that any group of players from, say, canada could turn up and play in the comp - never mind that the canadian federation has selected and sent a team as well. could quebec or western australia or florida send teams? hahahaha what about nation of islam? how many moldovan teams will now enter?

Can we get an official statement from the GB Women's team spokesperson? (or is Rach it, if not I'm taking it as said) And a response from Kieth on behalf of BOA? I feel a Podcast interview coming on with the GB Women...

I believe WAA will have one representative member federation from each country wishing to join as this is rather standard for international organizations. I imagine those in fairly recent participation (ie Argentina) and/or now participating will be grandfathered in on upon application. I cannot see WAA allowing a team from, say Florida, as separate entry from USA team(s) from the long standing and participating member federation USOA. The draft bylaws do not allow for this kind of entry.
