French fédération (FFESSM) organises its Div1 National championship in Antibes from the 8th to the 11th of May 2008 (on BARI model). It is four days after the end of Durban event or Istanbul competition.

Obviously, a busy period for UWH players this year...

Hi,

As for the last season (2006/2007), the French underwater activities federation (FFESSM) decides to organize a global underwater competition, with all the activities, as for the CMAS Games in Bari. So there will be not only Hockey, but Fins Swimmins, Free diving, Photo, Underwater poker (erf, no, it does not still exists ...). The French underwater hockey commission does not have the possibility to change the date of this global event. So, it will be difficult for the international players (10 men, 10 women, some juniors ...), but not unreachable. The french Rugby championship has started just one week after the end of the Wolrds...

By the way, the official web site for UWH in France is http_hockeysub.ffessm.fr, even if Tom's site contains a lot of information

what is meant by 'global?' who is invited? what countries? how many teams/individuals? where?

Remy means "global" in the "of, relating to, or applying to a whole" sense. The French competition scheduled for May is the French nationals, which (like last year) will encompass all the underwater disciplines that fall under the FFESSM's umbrella. Only French teams can compete.

it's been quite a while now and time is flying by, and it's only 4 months till the durban comp.


i believe current status is waa and cmas are both busily looking for new rules to introduce, while an impending ban on all countries attending the durban comp participating in cmas events looms over us all, with the threat of a split uwh global community thick in the air ...the countries securely attached to cmas sit huddled and shivering under the shade of this great cloud somewhere in europe... don't they look so sad, with those great big puppy eyes...

will no-one help them? will the world ever play in the same comp again? is the apartheid of underwater hockey upon us? wait! wait! whats that in the sky?

is it a bird?

If i play in Durban, then i am banned from CMAS comps till december of the next year. thats 2010.
