| Panamerican Under Water Games Hi, I just heard today something about Panamerican Games in november 2008 in Mexico, including UWH.......does anyone from Canada , US or Argentina...or anyone Knows something about it??????? |

| I believe he is talking about regular raquetball for the regular Pan Am games, as it (raquetball) and rugby are going to be events in addition to normal Olympic sports.

| Wow! what would have been really cool is if someone associated with CMAS told the underwater hockey world about this! I wonder how long it has been on the books? None of the CMAS reports I've seen have said anything about it. This is the first I've heard about it and its only a few months away. ![]()

| There is an Americas Zone - US, Canada, Cuba, Mexico, Central and South American countries/federations who are members of CMAS - that would be, roughly guessing: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Chile. The president of the zone is woman from Cuba. I have attended a meeting or two when held at a CMAS GA. All in Spanish - no translation. I am asked if I understood? I say no as I have no Spanish. There are meetings outside the CMAS GA I believe; I get messages, in Spanish only, now and then. Often, I think meetings held in Cuba which makes it fairly impossible for me - US does not allow travel to Cuba. The choice of sports is interesting - from the Spanish speaking members, only Colombia plays uw rugby that I am aware of. Colombia knows the US plays yet we were not invited or even notified. Colombia and Argentina play uwh. If US was notified, the info must have been in Spanish only. US belongs to uw rugby and fin swimming. USOA does not do so does not belong to apnea or uw orienteering. But I am good friends with world president of orienteering, so I'll ask him 'what is up.' This is the very sort of mis or uncommunication for which CMAS is famous. You all must realize USOA is on the CMAS sh&**t list due to participation in Durban, but both Argentina and Colombia were there too. CMAS is also famous for selective anger, so maybe Argentina and Colombia have been forgiven? Also CMAS is know for short notice, so perhaps this all just got off the ground ---- errr under the water? I don't see the competition listed on the CMAS website listing of competitions do I??

| Franz Medlich, Austria, wrote me back immediately to say he knows nothing about any competition in Mexico. I wonder if someone is using the CMAS logo without permission? saying or implying is it a CMAS event.

| go to ...::: CMAS América :::... it all looks very official and the names involved with the federations are real - I know them. They list an uw hockey rep from Colombia - Juan Carlos Echiverry - know of him or may have even met him. But if the world uw orienteering president is unaware of the competition, communication is out of sync somewhere. The participating countries are all So America. Now I'll drop a note to Dr Dernier and see 'what is up.' USA would not be eligible to attend or participate as we do not belong to CMAS uw hockey, but we do belong/eligible for uw rugby - we belong to fin, rugby, spear. I did not, for first time in 20+ years, attend the CMAS GA this year, so this could have been discussed there. It is not in the minutes though. There was no meeting of the Sports Committee or any of the sports commissions according to the minutes. And the event is not listed on home page of CMAS website.
