Panamerican Under Water Games

Some time ago, I hear that there was an intention to make a new regional organization, like former CONSUASA (something like South American Underwater Activites Confederation), organization that "died" for some reason I don't know some time ago. Maybe CMAS-America is the result of that effort. I will check if someone here have ever heard about it.
I just hope this event is more real than the 2000 UWH America's Cup held in Cuba, another mighty tournament I still don't know anything about, other than a line in a Calendar.
By the way, I think UWrugby is also played at Venezuela.

As I said, at the 2007 CMAS GA, there was a meeting of the 'new' CMAS Americas regional. Only English speaking countries are US and Canada - Canada did not attend the GA. I did not, for the first time in 20 years, attend the 2008 GA - I will be going to the Bylaw meeting in Jan 2009 and the GA in April, thailand, 2009 meetings.

At the 2007 GA, a meeting was held by the Americas group. Chair is the president from Cuba. Meeting was conducted in Spanish - no translator. I get a few messages from the group - always in Spanish only - maybe 1-2 year. One of the message mite have been info and/or invite to this 'event.'

Also, the world president of uw orienteering know nothing of the event - Franz, president, got back to me immediately yesterday. And as I said, USOA is eligible for fin and rugby events.

USOA has major uw hockey event (Pacific Coast Championships)_ in Oct - I 'hear' Colombia is coming either as few players or team - contact thru USOA national uwhockey director Greg Appling. This is an OPEN event - ALL are welcome. Philippines often come but it runs very close to the first ever Asian Championships they are hosting in early Nov, so I don't think we'll see a team - perhaps a few players. We can always find room for players on a team or two.

I think I sent out PCCs info far and wide - particularly to So American countries, Asia and Oceana - targeting persons who read English.

My next step it message/quiry to Dr Dernier.

I am very amazed that uw hockey was not included - maybe the Durban participation issue? I'll keep everyone up as I know more - when and if.

You shouldn't be, Carol. If you look at the website, there is only one country member where UWH is played. All the other countries don't have UWH yet ...

I seem to see US and Canadian flags as well as Argentina, Colombia. I fully realize that USA is not uw hockey member, but we do play uw rugby and fin swimming and have not, to my knowledge, received an invite.
