4 a side, i think 3-1 is best. line of 3 mids, the flankers ride up and back depending on the side of the pool, and you have a sweep at the back... you're kinda playing in a T where the top of the T see-saws depending on who has the puck and who is covering.

it's the bees knees! very strong across the pool which is good for keeping possession as most teams are prepared to concede lateral territory but try to restrict forwards movement by the opposition, so theres always space sideways and players to take the puck, and playing across the pool also spreads the opposition apart and creates gaps which can give you overlaps.
