Yeah I agree about the alas. They are nice and comfy to wear, but compared to leaders (and I suppose probably most fibre fins but I haven't tried any others) they are pretty slow. The key to it, I think, is the fact that most plastic and rubber fins are pretty dead, so you lose more energy each time they bend (lost to internal friction in the blades).
