The last international comp held at the Durban pool was the 2005 Southern hemispheres. Its a great venue, however my most burning memory of the pool was the amount of bird poo in it from the pigeons nesting in the rafters above. It ended up in the same place as sand does when you're at the beach - not pleasant!

Apart from that, it was a great venue with lots of good meeting spots. They had little stalls around the pool deck as well, selling anything from indigenous jewellery to dive gear. I imagine if the stands were filled with athletes and supporters it would be an electric atmosphere.

Maybe we could have a retrospective report from a player who attended the 96 Durban Worlds - was it at the same pool? What was it like?
