But the follow through is generally a good indication of the shot getting done right. Or perhaps I should say it this way, the lack of follow through shows a lack of proper shot technique/timing. Much like an Olympic Diver making little splash usually means the rest of the dive was good. When they splash big it is because of technique flaws such as lack of height, over-rotation, legs separating or crossing, etc. And it could be caused by something as little as looking down just a bit at the take-off. You can still have a great entry with flaws in other parts of the dive so it is not a 100% indicator. Same with your shot. There are people who can muscle a shot without the follow through and it is still decent, but in general the follow through is big because the timing and technique were all right.

The cool thing is that when you get the timing and teechnique just right, the shot feels almost effortless.
