Dear Ms Arzhanova

I am writing to you as Chairman of the British Octopush Association with the full support of my Committee and members to strongly protest about the way advice from the Underwater Hockey Commission is constantly ignored by CMAS.

The British Octopush Association has been a very active supporter of CMAS from its foundation and we are very keen to continue supporting CMAS in the future. However it appears to us that CMAS do not support our democratically elected representatives of the Underwater Commission and we see this as a direct insult to our sport.

With reference to BOD 154 we are totally appalled that you allowed hearsay and rumour to contribute to your discussions without substantiating the facts, and you showed such naivety and lack of professionalism to include such nonsense in your published minutes. This brings your position as our respected democratic governing body severely into question.

Feelings about these problems are so very strong within the British Octopush Association that unless a complete change of attitude towards the Underwater Hockey Commission is evident we feel we will not be able to support sending any of our elite teams to the CMAS championships in Bari in 2007.

I reiterate that the British Octopush Association is very keen to continue to support and be part of CMAS as our international governing body. Our sport has become very popular, is highly competitive, and is growing internationally year after year as the 2006 CMAS world championships at Sheffield proved. We rely on the Underwater Hockey Commission to represent the special conditions of our unique sport and we need CMAS to be supportive and understanding of the Underwater Hockey Commission. It would be a very sad day indeed if the present CMAS negative attitude forced us to consider other options. At present I am doing my best to convince my membership that our best interests are to stay within CMAS but I need your support and understanding to show the British Underwater Hockey clubs that the Underwater Hockey Commission is heard and respected within CMAS.

I look forward to your reply

Yours sincerely

Charlie Simms
BOA Chairman
