probably time for a more detailed update...
weight this avo, 82.3kg
i've done 2 full weeks now with the extended power days.
eating, still going ok. i tend to find myself lapsing on the weekends sometimes cos i dont have my food at home sussed out as thoroughly as at work... need to fix that with more shopping. i can't confirm it yet but i'm going to start keeping a food diary again like i did at the start... (i stopped when i got sick of writing the same thing down every day! haha) ...because i definitely get the feeling that i get more results and feel better generally when i eat carbs at night as well as meat/veg etc, for instance after a hockey session when i'm trying to get a bit of carbs back in... i might try one week with no carbs at night and one with? it's noticeably harder to eat brekkie in the morning but i have a hunch that a lifetime of carbs in the stomach makes my body feel more comfortable or something... for whatever reason. thoughts carl?
in the gym, my weights on the squats are steadily going up now, both for the long breathing sets and the short power ones... (after i dropped heaps off to try to get better technique!)
weights on the cleans and clean/jerk have settled as i think i've found the weight range to be pushing and still getting used to the technique. pretty weird though i assumed i would be able to clean significantly more than i would clean/jerk, basically cos theres more in the jerk to burn energy, and i thought it would be harder to get the weight up the jerk part... but in reality, my weights have been very similar for both, only slightly heavier for the clean, so i kinda expect my technique for the clean to keep getting better and the weight to go up a bit more... i've got the jerk bit sussed and think i'm getting pretty close to my limit there at the mo so i expect improvements to be gradual from now on in that department.
since the bigger power sessions i have had tonnes more muscle ache, much more what i expected at the start, feel way better about what i'm doing cos i feel i'm actually putting enough stress on myself to make myself take notice... i would expect average gains to be up for the last couple of weeks but it's so hard to tell with fluid retention and all that.
cleans etc are such cool fun though! so much more fun doing deadlifts, cleans and that rather than smaller muscle exercises.
oh yeah... doing squats with a moderate sunburn on your shoulders is NOT in my top lists of 1000 fun things to do.
