Thrown out my own 4x4 team..
The newbie’s players. Get passed the old school players.
Sunday 28 October 2007. An good day. As Tilburg players we were invited to a 4x4 tournament. The second we did play in the 10 years we play underwaterhockey. So much experience do we not have with those sort tournaments.
Beside we as Tilburg players really like to play in Belgium. It was also an opportunity to let the newbie players have a tournament before the competition start. So we did have in the basic 4 newbie’s as players in the game/water. And 2 old school players as replacement players/side subbing players. And yes the newbie’s were learning. Every minute they became better.
After every game. Every team must have a referee to reff the next game.
My function. I really like to do that. But also I wanted to play some games.
I can tell. as captain from the team, even as captain from the competition team. I only played 1 game. After that game. (were I made some really beginners mistakes. Nothing for me. Like some players call it ‘totally out of shape’) The team said to me. You do the referee duties and we play….most/some other teams had fun. The faired and strong team captain was thrown out off its own team during the tournament. By the newbie’s. Positive point. The newbie’s learned really much. Hope they play this way also in the Dutch competition. The negative side. All my beginner mistakes were put on video……
But after all a real great tournament. And already invited for the next in April. Again by our Belgium friends. Only this tournament was played on 2meter depth. And the third country present was Spain. The one in April will be on 3.80meter depth and also against a strong team from France. So there is against much to learn. And see.
But im really happy nobody want to see my beginner mistakes...
