| Training Update So I have completed the first week of my training program, and it is going well. The only hiccup so far has been that I missed this morning's session as I slept past my alarm - I had a massively busy weekend, with no where near enough sleep. So, lying in bed this morning I thought I'd listen to my body and sleep a bit longer!
The weights have been great, its nice to be able to choose sets of specific exercises to keep variety. Early days yet, but I was certainly sore (a good sore) after the upper body workout, however I think I'll need to up it a bit in the legs - but that's what this week's focus is.
The food is going well, I have however had a couple of lapses - Friday was a farewell morning tea for a guy at work and I couldn't resist the blue cheese and quince paste so I splurged. Although it is against my diet, I believe it is good to occasionally bend the rules. It certainly reminds me why I'm on the program anyway, because that arvo my stomach was turning and the swelling started to happen.
As far as any difference in my game as a result of the changes, it varies day-to-day. Often I feel sluggish in the water having done a lower body weights session in the morning, but I reckon that's okay as it simulates the way I would feel part way through a comp anyway. Apart from that, I'd say so far the food changes have been most beneficial to my game and general living habits as I'm sleeping far less, have a lot more energy, and feel a lot better in the water. I suppose that's because the food that I'm eating is being digested more efficiently, getting into my system quicker.
I'm loving the routine, so hopefully over the next few weeks I can keep it going.
Oh, and as instructed by "Dr Carl", I will not be weighing myself until mid-November!
