| CMAS Message from Interim President

Dear All
I have just returned from a meeting with the President and SG of CMAS this week end and I have submitted to them my proposals to solve the present crisis the game is facing and they have assured me that my proposal is ok and within the rules of CMAS.
So here it is as a package and I would appreciate a reply from the SA President (Piet) since they are holding the tournament
Sa to call the tournament they are planning in April 2008 The CMAS World CUP
The ranking of the World CUP will be used for the ranking of CMAS world games for 2009 for Non European Countries.
The ranking of the European Championship will be used for CMAS world Games for 2009 for European countries
CMAS will approve Juniors and Masters for hockey .
The rules of CMAS must be observed :
All competitors must have CMAS licence
No mixed Teams
Players cannot play for 2 teams at the tournament ( example one player cannot play for Elite and Masters or Junior and Elite )
The age group for Juniors to be decided by Organisers (u19 seems the norm)
Masters age group stays the same
If above is accepted that we will make sure that a world cup is held every 2 years in countries outside Europe and use Ranking and the European championship will also be held in Europe the same year .
It has been suggested that the world Cup is always held in July and the Euro around the Easter Holidays
(unfortunately this year the 2 events will be held at the same time but that should only affect Euro countries and the main 3 that have enough players to take part in both tournaments.
I hope the proposal is clear and I wish that it is accepted as the alternatives will not be of any good for our sport.
On another note I would like to inform you that 4 nations are left in the running for CMAS world Games for 2009( probably around July time)
They are Tunisia (government request and backing) Croatia ( their Olympic committee backing ) Mallorca and Budapest
The decisions will be made by April 2008 .
I also have plans to have a players association from each hemisphere to communicate to me the ideas of players and also what they perceive in changes of the rules .(same with Coaches)
Also any proposal for future holding of any Tournament will be done in the open with knowledge of all before a decision is made
One of the criteria I will use will be cost of taking part for teams and accommodation (besides of course the normal rules of hockey)
I like to do things by listening to all and having positive and constructive ideas from all ..so please let us be positive
