What depth is a good depth of pool

I used to play in a 2 metre pool which I thought was fantastic (fast smooth tiles etc). Since playing in London (UK) we practice in 2.25 metres, and in the past few years, played the official GB UWH tournaments at Sheffield at 3 meters.

My personal preference is for 2.25 meters for club games (good for beginners, deep enought to keep fins out of the way), but I like to play series competitions in 3 metres (deep enought to open up the game). Which depth is best?
