| Tan,
you are absolutely right when you say players can't afford going to competitions every year. That's why I would say, let's play Durban, work something out to present to CMAS and go to the games from that moment on.
There is no place for a world's set after Durban for as far as I know, so why not the games. Doesn't have to be in 2009 if that is impossible to make it. Can also be in 2011.
Although the organization could improve, Bari had a special atmosphere. Top level athletes from diffirent disciplines came together, got to know each other and the different sports. We had rugby-players coming to see our games, and we went to see theirs. That was cool, but hockey didn't get the exposure it deserved because most high level players weren't there. We could have the same as Sheffield, multiplied by other sports.
As for the baching on the wall. I am not saying that Carol and the commission haven't tried. Good lord have they tried. I also always kept claiming they have the heart in the right place.
However, if we want to push more, we have to unite and start working more together. Get all the hockey representatives together, and maybe we find a solution together with the people from the commission, but as far as I know, this has never happend so far. More brains make more changes on finding a solution instead of deviding the sport. And with all modern communication, we can even do it online.
We should get a more professional structure into everything. Some countries may have some great promotion techniques, lets share them, let's share the materials. Make it once, use it many times... |
