"A New Bog Standard" "An English underwater hockey player slithered into sporting history when she set a new record at the World Bog Snorkeling Championship.
School teacher Joanne Pitchforth, 35, beat an international field of 120 to emerge filthy but triumphant.
She eclipsed husband Hadyn Pitchforth, who cam in sixth and who was last year's men's winner at the unlikely sport.
Pitchforth's time put her into the record books by the most slender of margins, coming in at 1 min 35:18 sec.
Competitors in snorkels and flippers have to complete two lengths of a 55m trench without using conventional swimming strokes." Apparently taken from Melbourne's MX daily, Tuesday 28th August, 2007. Page 6. |
