New Rules

Well the new rules for aquachallenge are out, and they look surprisingly like the old rules for underwater hockey. Will CMAS be fooled? Unlikely... Since we seem to be set on the path of splitting and creating two rival codes anyway, how about we take the opportunity to fix some of the recognised problems in the game - altering it enough that the two become obviously separate and different, preventing people who want to play other CMAS sports from being shafted. Think union vs. league. For example, how about the following:

WAA Indoor Snorkel Battle Extreme

5 players per side
All players must wear black or white vests clearly displaying 'A', 'D' or 'G'.
A team must have two Attackers, two Defenders and a Goalie in the water at all times.
Attackers may only play in the attacking two thirds of the pool. Defenders may only play in the defensive two thirds of the pool, and Goalies may only play within the 6-metre circle.
Play starts with an equal puck at halfway.

Play in the middle of the pool remains the four on four carnage we all know and love. This changes to two vs. two if you get far enough up the pool, then the defensive team gets an extra player right in front of the goal to keep things interesting.

Benefits over Underwater Hockey:
Even faster,
More open play,
More skillful play,
Easier and better to spectate,
MUCH better to film,
Much easier to commentate,
A few interesting line calls I imagine, but in general better visibility will make refereeing easier and more accurate.

Thoughts?
